Question about 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier

1 Answer

I'm having overheating problems with my 99 chev. cavalier. I have already changed the thermostat and the problem continued. So i went all the way in and got the the water pump off, it seems fine, it spins, nothing broke in the inside, no rattling of any kind. im kinda out of ideas. Can anyone give me a hand?

An engine can be destroyed even after overheating once. If there's steam coming from around the spark plug the head and or block is warped, at very least the head gasket has been destroyed. Take the car to a repair shop immediately, but I'm afraid the damage I'd already done.

1996 Chev Cavalier is over heating even after i changed the thermostat but the radiator isn't getting hot

Overheating can be a mystery-but I find that most of this problem is putting in the thermostat backwards, and/or not getting all the air out of hoses(upper and lower)-posible that water pump is shot, and or fan belt that drves pump is no good(unless driven by timing belt)-flush radiator to make sure that isn't clogged up...

is the latch from the interor car broken, or the locking mechenism to release the hood not working?

Either way its a simple fix just requires the hoot to be open.

try checking the hoses for blockage, and if not that make sure the fan is working right as it might be the fan cluch,or your water pump may have went out, best of luck
