Question about 1998 Dodge Dakota

Truck starts runs fine then out of knowhere it stalls out and sometimes starts right up and sometimes it takes a few minutes

Check or replace the camshaft position sensor, this is a common failure item that causes this symptom.

Can either be fuel filter is dirty or fuel pump is going and there may be a short or burnt wire on the fuel relay. they should all be located in the same area.

Could be the ASD relay among other things.
Can you check to see if the coil and injectors have power the next time it fails to start ?

Usually a problem with a dirty throttle body or a faulty idle air control valve. The computer controls idle speed by regulating how much air enters the intake thru the valve.

Omni stall


I wouldn't think sensor problem. Need to monitor data to see what is not showing up. Some input to the PCM is not being seen. You need to monitor sensor data to see what disappears, it will lead you to the problem.

Was the fuel pump checked out?
Have a scope put on it,to check for a worn armature. May also be binding up mechanically
Also check TPS Sensor data or scope it
