Hello! I have a 2005 PT Cruiser. My husband went to back out of our drive way and noticed a clicking sound and he was not able to fully turn the wheel. We took the plastic covering off of the steering wheel (it came off in 2 pieces) exposing the "insides". We could clearly see a black plastic piece was broken right where these tiny screws hold this piece together. The piece that is broken looks like it encases some kind of wiring. The wiring is flat and white and is curled up, looking almost spiral-like. Is there an easy fix to this problem? Can this piece be purchased at my local auto parts stoer? Can the steering wheel be taken off easily and this piece be replaced. If I knew how to get the steering wheel off, I'd just replace it myself. My last resort is hiring a tow truck and having my car taken to the nearest Chrysler dealership. Please help me as I do NOT want to have to go through a whole dog and pony show for something tht seems so simple. I know NOTHING about cars but I know this peice looks very east to fix. HELP! Thank you! :-)

pt cruiser love to brake the lower front engine mount. the front of the engine is actually the passenger side under the belts (front wheel drive engine,s sit sideways) the mount itself is cracked or the rubber insert is wiped out, you need to remove the wheel and the plastic splash guard to see it
Please check the TYRE pressure if this seems OK then you must hoist the car and check the steering with the wheels up . If this is not found to be free the power steering section must be checked in detail starting from the drive, the hydraulics to the ball joint links. Loss of fluid or fault in pump cannot be ruled out. check the drive belt which if failed will be indicated.
probably not sounds like either a dead or weak battery or bad connections on the battery posts. first take battery cables loose clean terminals and hook back up hopefully then it will start. or use jumper cables and see if it will jump start. if it jump starts then you no its not starter.if it doesnt jump stsrt then clean posts and cable ends and try again. hope this helps. best of luck
The ! (sits in a U shaped icon) indicates uneven or low tire pressure. This could also contribute to the steering wheel shaking, although that usually indicates tires out of balance or suspension out of alignment.
You can problably take the wheel off and turn it around. The shaft and wheel are splined. You will need a special puller. Most auto parts stores have tool loaning programs. Just ask for a steering wheel puller. It is a fairly easy job. About a three out of five.
my 2006 pt cruiser won"t start. the light do come on but it will not turn over just a clicking sound. i drove it for about an hour then went back to it 30 mins later and it didn"t start. just clicking sound.
I AM A CHRYSLER PARTS/SERVICE MANAGER AND HAVE SEEN THESE TURBOS BLOW INTAKE TO PLENUM GASKETS. WE ARE A SMALL DEALER AND HAVE SEEN 3 HAPPEN AND ALSO WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO DIAGNOSE. WE WERE ABOUT TO PULL THE HEAD ON ONE WHEN WE FOUND THE GASKET SUCKED IN. PART IS CHEAP AND REPAIR NOT TERRIBLE .HAVE YOUR TECH SPRAY CLEANER AROUND SEAM BETWEEN INTAKE AND PLENUM ENGINE SHOULD DIE DOWN WHEN YOU HIT THE LEAK
