This is not a car parts store, I would call or look up a parts store and get theirprice. That is something which you use so rarely that maybe a tool rental place would make sense. They usually have a puller kit you can rent for a couple days very cheaply. You know if you are not a trained tech, pulling a steering wheel which has an airbag in it can get you in way over your head very quickly.

You can probably rent one at your local auto parts for free.

If not, they are probably $20 or so.

Remove steering wheel on 85 dodge diplomat

Disconnect the negative battery terminal. Remove the horn pad on the steering wheel-Phillips head screws from the back side of wheel. Then loosen the nut on the steering wheel center. Mark the steering wheel to column shaft position, so the wheel goes back in exact same position on the shaft. You may need a steering wheel puller to get the wheel off the shaft, not always, but sometimes the wheel is on pretty tight. Do not hammer on the wheel to get it off, use a puller if needed. These pullers are at parts stores and not expensive.

Can not take off the steering wheel on my 2004 e350 van, the puller i rented w the tabs (the screw bolts do not work) are just taking chunks out of the steering wheel. what can i do?

I think you have the wrong puller. The screws are not the right size. There are usually several sets
of screws with the steering wheel puller. Are you sure you are using the correct screws?

There are usually 2 sets of screws with the puller that are the same size, but have different
number of threads per inch. So check to make sure you are using the right screws with the puller.

Where did you rent the puller?

NEED TO TAKE STEERING WHEEL OFF 1981 FORD BRONCO WITH COLUMN SHHIFT how?

I have worked on this same problem on a 1985 F100 and I'm sure the steering system is very similar. Take off all the pretty stuff on the outside of the steering wheel (horn buttons or horn ring) then you should be faced with a 11/16th to 3/4th nut. remove that nut and get a steering wheel puller (you can rent those at most auto parts houses for about $20.00. there is no replacement for having the right tool for the right job!) There will be holes that the steering wheel for the puller to be put in to. After you attach the puller to the wheel, take the middle bolt on the puller and tighten it until it makes contact with the bold on the steering column that you took the nut off of. You might have to hold the puller while you tighten the puller. After it makes contact, keep tightening until you feel the steering wheel POP off. Please resist the urge to try and use a hammer to take the steering wheel off and not use a steering wheel puller because it will never work (don't ask me how I know this!)

I hope this helps and much good luck!
