Question about 2004 Ford Explorer

1 Answer

I have a 2004 ford explorer the abs light is on and the 4x4 light is flashing I took it to a garage and they hooked up the machine to see what code it was throwing. Its not throwing any codes. Shouldn't it throw some kind of code if those lights are on?

I have a 2004 ford explorer i just changed my throttle and my check engine light went off but my brake and abs light is on and the 4×4 hi come off and on what is the problem

It could be a lot of thing's , If ABS light is on there is a DTC stored in the electronic brake control module ! There could also be a trouble code stored in the 4x4 module ! If your looking for a magical fix there aren't any , you need to have a scan tool hooked up that will check ABS codes ! etc... An if your not familiar with these systems I suggest you take it to a ASE certified repair shop that is !

2004 ford explorer abs light constant and 4x4 blinking any ideas?

According to the manual pg 10. http://www.fordservicecontent.com/Ford_Content/catalog/owner_guides/04expog3e.pdf
Anti-lock brake system: If the ABS light stays illuminated or
continues to flash, a malfunction has been detected, have the system
serviced immediately. Normal braking is still functional unless the brake warning light also is illuminated.

My ford explorer 2004 makes a loud banging noise while turning and the 4X4 high light flashes on and off as well as ABS light stays on

One loud bang is usually a ball joint. Jack up one side of car and shake tire to see what is loose. Shake each steering component while the side is lifted. Do both sides of car.

Just had front LH side bearing assm replaced. now ABS light is on and 4x4 light is flashing. When I put it in 4 wd i get resistance when turning w/ a loud noise

Unfortunately, for several years, various vehicles could have ABS and other of the same year, make, and model might not have. Perhaps yours is one of these.
I suppose you know the ABS system often uses magnetic sensors to determine whether ABS is necessary to interact with your stopping distance.
I think the NON-ABS has no magnets, the ABS does.
This could have included the wheel bearings.
The garage may have put the wrong bearing set on the car, and does not wish to "eat" the mistake.
In some cases, the mechanic might have to spend a few hundred dollars out of HIS pocket to fix your problem.
Some garages demand such things of their mechanics.
You should probably not drive the vehicle until it is fixed properly.
God bless your efforts.

The ABS light came on (stayed on) and the 4X4 HIGH light flashes. There is also a noticable grinding/rubbing noise coming from the front wheel-well when I'm making a sharp turn, going out of a tight space...

Here is my question

The ABS Light is on. For how long, and why are you here,v.s. having it checked out and repaired.
The grinding/etc,would have me putting the vehicle up on stands immediately, and checking it out. I would in no way drive it,like that

Sounds as though your wheel bearing, tone ring, abs sensor etc ,are being chewed up, and causing the code to set

2004 Ford Explorer ABS light on constantly and

I just had the same exact problem. The ABS light was on constanly, and the 4x4 high light flashes about 8 times, turns off for about 2-5 minutes, then flashes again for another 8 times and keeps repeating. In addition, I was also hearing and feeling a grinding and clunking noise going in reverse, and the steering wheel was difficult to turn. I changed a bad hub assembly on the front driver side and everything went away...fixed! I wouldn't let anybody tell me that the ABS system and the 4x4 system are not linked together. In fact, my local Ford service department assured me that I had two separate issues. Well, I only had one issue and it was a bad ABS sensor. I hope my exprience helps you.
