A P0300 diagnostic code indicates a random or multiple misfire. If the last digit is a number other than zero, it indicates to the cylinder number that is misfiring. A P0302 code, for example, would tell you cylinder number two is misfiring.Or p0303 will indicate cylinder number three is misfiring. Unfortunately, a P0300 doesn't tell you specifically which cylinder(s) is/are mis-firing,It just means that any of the cylinder or cylinders are misfiring. In this case all the cylinders are to be checked one by one to confirm which one is faulty causing this. The reason of this misfire is due to any of the following parts mentioned :---

A code P0300 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:

  • Faulty spark plugs or wires
  • Faulty coil (pack)
  • Faulty oxygen sensor(s)
  • Faulty fuel injector(s)
  • Burned exhaust valve
  • Faulty catalytic converter(s)
  • Stuck/blocked EGR valve / passages
  • Faulty camshaft position sensor
  • Defective computer

If there are no symptoms, the simplest thing to do is to reset the code and see if it comes back.

If there are symptoms such as the engine is stumbling or hesitating, check all wiring and connectors that lead to the cylinders (i.e. spark plugs). Depending on how long the ignition components have been in the car, it may be a good idea to replace them as part of your regular maintenance schedule. I would suggest spark plugs, spark plug wires, etc. Otherwise, check the coils (a.k.a. coil packs). In some cases, the catalytic converter has gone bad. If you smell rotten eggs in the exhaust, your cat converter needs to be replaced. I've also heard in other cases the problems were faulty fuel injectors.

Random misfires that jump around from one cylinder to another (read: P030x codes) also will set a P0300 code. The underlying cause is often a lean fuel condition, which may be due to a vacuum leak in the intake manifold or unmetered air getting past the airflow sensor, or an EGR valve that is stuck open.
Get all this details checked by your regular car maintenance mechanic. And replace the faulty. This will help.Thanks.Helpmech

Innova 3030 shows a code PO300

PO300 is a random misfire code. Generally, a coil needs to be replaced. The DIM in your car should specify which one. (My 2000 S80 did). Easy to change.

Gm code po300

This is a misfire code. Start with the basics, fuel filter, spark plugs, vacuum leaks, wires etc. If after checking/changing necessary parts, if problem persists you will need to go deeper as in coils and computer controlled parts such as map sensor, maf sensor

Po300 code multi cyl misfire any sugg

The code you got may not have indicated the correct coil, that was bad

I would put the old coil back in #6 & either walk the new coil to another cylinder, or get professonal help in the form of a scan tool in Mode $06,
if applicable on your vehicle & check for misfires that why

Forget the PO300

1996 olds cutlas supreme, 3.1 L has trouble codes PO171 and PO300. Any Ideas?

The po300 is a misfire code. This means there is probably a plug, plug wire, ignition coil,or ignition module.Check the coil towers one at a time. These are know for corroding. If you find one that is corroded then replace the plug wire also.Po171 is a lean condition code. The po300 could be causing the po171.If you have not had a tune up Now would be a good time.Hope this helps.Good luck.

Code po300 check engine light

The Po300 is a random misfire code where the PCM is picking up the misfires. The other two codes are lean mixture codes. More than likely these are due to bad intake manifold gaskets allowing unmetered air to enter the engine causing the engine to lean out and possibly run a little rough when cold
