Question about 2005 Pontiac Montana SV6

1 Answer

Had the battery changed, but now the (heat) vents in the top of the van and the floor vent (heat) does not work - only cold air comes out. Also, the heating/cooling dial lets it get hot midway on cold only. The a/c button will not shut off either.

You will need a scan tool to read and clear the DTCs. The system may calibrate without the scan tool--no harm in trying.

Rear Floor Vent heat only

Sounds like your heater coolant hose door flap is broken or loose. May want to check behind the heater controls, if your components are mechanically operated. If electronically, may need to perform more troubleshooting before replacing this component.

Selection lever does not move to AC vent or floor vent only to the defrost. AC compressor does not kick in when AC is selected.
Vacuum level is at 18 instead of 23.
Any suggestions.

A/C only from center vent. Heat from side vents and floor vents.

sounds like the blend motor from hot to cold is stuck open half way allowing both temps to come into the car.

No air flow through 4 top rear vents

Don't worry, it's designed that way. The owner's manual is pretty unclear about this. But the heated air only comes out the floor vents underneath the front seats and the "heat vents" at the forward and side of the rear A/C compartment near the floor. The cooled or vent air flows from the overhead vents.
