Question about 2004 Honda Accord

1 Answer

I have a 2004 Honda CRV. On two occasions the cruise control has stuck on the the vehicle would accellerate. The only way to shut the cruise off was to put the vehicle into neutral and shut the car off. On the first occasion when I started the car back up the accel was still stuck on and the vehicle would rev up out of control. On both occasions I had been using the cruise for some time and had gone from cancelling the speed to decelerate then to resuming the cruise to accellerate - Mark

Sounds like the cruise control switch on the brake pedal. May need cleaning or replacement.

SOURCE: PCV valve for 2004 Hona CRV

PCV Valve Operation: 0900823d80049deb.jpgA vacuum-controlled metering device that regulates the flow of crankcase fumes in the positive crankcase ventilation system by allowing more flow at high speed than at low speed, and acts as a system shutoff in case of engine backfire to prevent an explosion in the crankcase.
Depending on your engine size, the PCV is a different style and slightly different location.

Usually they are mounted in a hole on your valve cover.... connected by a vacuum tube.
Some are mounted with threads into the engine block (usually by the oil filter)

On the '04 Crv - it is nearly inaccessible behind the AC compressor and beneath what looks like an old vacuum advance. Most PCV valves today do not need to be replaced, unless there is actual valve failure, which I have not seen happen. I would not be concerned about replacing it.

Thanks for using FixYa - a FixYa rating is appreciated!!

SOURCE: 92 Accord Automatic shifting

Has anyone change the transmission fluid and used anything other than Honda ATF-Z1. If so, have the fluid/filter changed in this car and use only Honda Fluid. This is the only fluid that you can use in a Honda. Even if you have used the correct fluid an fluid/filter change may help. If that is not the case then I suggest you seek out a trusted professional.

2001 Honda CRV cruise control doesn't after getting timing belt replaced

Very likely, the repair shop botched the repair, and failed to reconnect some kind of connection which is critical to the cruse control. Very typical in repair shops these days! I would take it back and complain!
