Question about 1993 Buick LeSabre

2 Answers

Car dies won't restart. cranks over, has full battery, lights etc but acts like it is not getting gas. towed three or four times to GM dealership and they hook it up to computer and find nothing. No codes at all but they test drove it and it did same thing during test drive. Let it sit overnight or several hours and it starts again usually but dies again while driving. Sometimes it will go days between dying. Sitting in a parking lot right now and hate to tow it back to a dealership that can't figure out the problem.

Hi,
At times a crankshaft position sensor has an intermittent break down. For some reason it does not always trip a code.
A portable good scanner can be plugged into the test port and the car can be driven , the scanner then is in real time. When the problem occurs it is recorded in the scanner.
Ask around about this idea. Note ----- There is a difference between a code reader and a good scanner. A code reader needs a code to be tripped. A scanner reads the whole system in real time.
Some problems can only be solved with a real time scan.
Keep trying. Sorry for your frustration.

Is it fuel related or what . when it wont restart have you tried spraying some stater fluid in it for 3 seconds to see if it starts. If it starts and goes dead it will be fuel related. Do this test a couple of times and you should get the same results. If it doesnot not it will be electrical. Distributor is what i would replace first. or coil .Good Luck!!!

Changed alternator, belt and battery on 01 sable ls after driving for a short time air bag light and gas light come on and car dies....help?

First thing is to see if the battery needs charging. If it has a full or near full charge, then maybe a loose or corroded battery cable connection is making the car seem dead..
You have to get the engine cranking at a normal rate or speed, to first see if it will start. If you get it cranking and it won't start, see if your fuel pump has failed. Best way to check that is to have the fuel pressure tested. No fuel pressure from a failed fuel pump is a major cause of a 'no start' condition.

Car with lock light on dash

GM factory security sytem light, flashes when you lock or unlock the doors. If a key is inserted into the ignition, and that key is not programmed into the computer, the computer shuts the engine down and car will not crank, and if I remember correcty, when that happens you have to have the car towed into the GM dealership, and they have to hook your car up to GMs tech three diagnostic system.

2004 Chevy Cavalier - car cranks over but won't start

Well, let me try to say this without being too offensive.....
Your car only quit running on you once. I find it really hard to believe that all of the parts you replaced so far, needed to be replaced to get the engine running again. It is EXTREMELY UNLIKELY that all of these "failures" would occur all at the same time.

You would rather pay for $500+ in parts that the car apparently did not need, than to pay to have it towed to a shop where they have the knowledge, training and equipment necessary to properly diagnose the vehicle and get it running again? And now you want someone to tell you what is causing the problem with your vehicle without the benifit of any diagnostic testing?

There is NO WAY that ANYONE can accurately tell you what is wrong with your vehicle without following the correct diagnostic procedures recommended by the vehicle manufacturer. The most anyone can do online without proper diagnosis and testing is GUESS! You seem to be doing that very well on your own.

Forget about the Nissan dealer and take your vehicle to one of the auto parts suppliers to have a diagnosis made, then find a competent mechanic to confirm the diagnosis and make necessary repairs.

2006 nissan xterra keeps dying

If it dies while driving it may be a a crank sensor. If it dies when you take your foot off the gas cruising it most likely an Idle Air Control valve. Either way this should still be under warenty if it is the computer. All emission related parts are covered for 4 years. This includes the computers
