The light Check engine is ON

Here are some very common causes for the engine light to com on.

1. Low fluids, make sure all of your fluid levels are where they should be, particularly the oil.

2. MAF, ( mass air flow ) sensor. This controls the fuel/air mix ratio to the engine.

3. Oxygen sensor, there are 2, ( front means before the catalytic converter, back means after the catalytic converter ) The front measure fuel/air mix, the back measure the emmisions from the fuel/air mix and tells the computer what adjustments need to be made to the fuel/air mix ratio.

I hope this helps you.

My 2007 BMW 335i w/ 51k miles on it has had the service engine light on for 2 days now. What does this mean?

Serivce engine light could mean a lot of things from your gas cap is not tight to oil cahnge to spark plugs are dirty. You need to pull the codes to find what is wrong with it.

Check engine light came on at 105,000 miles

The oil change wouldn't cause this problem. There are many emission sensors in the car that will make the engine light come ON. Best way to find out what's going on is to have an auto-parts store hook up a engine code reader and tell you what the code means. Most auto-part store will do this for free.

This light comes on to rermind you to service the car ( oil, filters ect ) you can turn this off when you start the car by making sure the odometer is showing ( not the trip meters A or B ) and hold in the reset button for the trip meters and turning the ignition switch all the way forward. When this is done the odometer will start to show dashes and when the dashes are gone the light will be reset.

Check engine light

Try the following:
1. Make sure the odometer is shown (not trip meters). Turn key to the Off position. 2. Press the odometer button AND turn the ignition key to the ON position for a few seconds. 3. You will hear a ding and the odometer will show four or five underscores to indicate the reset is done.
