Question about 2001 Ford Focus

3 Answers

My 2001 ford focus interior lights and head lights surge when I use the blinkers and any other power devises in my car. Also the engine seems to surge when I use these electronic devises. The dashligt fuse has blown several time and the rear taillight is connected to this fuse also. The fuse seems to blow when the car engine is running and surging. I have had the alternator rebuilt twice.

the other experts certainly know their stuff ,check the grounds out then change the alternator as the regulator is playing up check the voltage across the battery as engine is running then turn lights on and everything electrical on and then see what happens you will see that with all electrics turned on the voltage fluctuations will stabalise slightly with teh fan and blower and all lights on it will lower the voltage spikes

Sounds like a bad ground. I believe that your car has two in the interior. one on each side of the car under the kick panels left and right. there looks like a plug that is bolted on the body, with several black wires in it. check these out and make sure they are all grounded.

check whether you do have a smell of fuel or burnt gasket in the radiator after remove the cap. If so then you have an overheated engine and blown gasket. Or check whether if you have either water in engine oil or vice versa. Having any of the two, surely you have to remove cylinder head for renewing cylinder head gasket etc.

2001 ford focus wagon coolant problem- Pressure test the system to find no leaks but coolant reservoir is low and seems to have a film of oil what could this be

You may be developing a worn head gasket which can allow oil to flow into the engines cooling jacket. If your engine is running rough this is usually a good idication that there is a head gasket leak.
