Question about 2006 Chevrolet Impala

1 Answer

How do you get the battery out of a 2006 Chevy Impala LT? We've removed the safety bar, unhooked the connections, taken off the foam padding. Space does not seem large enough to maneuver the battery out. Do we have to move the fuse box and/or disconnect a radiator hose?

Remove the two speed nuts that hold the fuse block in place. You will be able to lift the fuse block up and move it out of the way just a enough to lift the end of the battery up and out.

I have a 2006 Chevy Impala LT and I need to know what is the wire from the starter to the alternator used for? Also, do I need to replace this wire if I have one going from the battery to the alternator?...

Hi, the extra wire is not essential, but it provides some redundancy. The alternator charge wire can be connected directly to the battery or via the starter hot terminal or both. Please let me know if you have more questions, and thanks for using FixYa.
