Your front rotors are warped. If they are thick enough they can be turned to remove the warp. If they are two thin they will need to be replaced. Not a bad time to take a peak at the front brake pads as well to see how much pad is left.

Proper wheel nut torque will help prolong the rotors ability to stay true.

Hi. I own a 1997 Subaru Impreza Outback. The steering wheel vibrates upon braking. It is worse at higher speeds. Replaced front brakes and rotors a year ago. Thank you.

Good Evening, your problem is a normal wear and tear issue as that over time brake rotors can become slightly warped and the only time you feel it is when you step on your brakes. A normal rule of thumb on those systems is if you feel it in the steering wheel when you step on the brakes it is your front rotors, and if you feel it in your seat it is the rear rotors. Always change your brake pads at the same time you change your rotors to help the longevity of the brake pads. Glad to help.
Thanks,
Joey

I changed thefront pads on a 2003 Subaru Impreza

you may have air in the line, bleed the front brake lines, but the problem might be the new pads, the old pads may have been made of softer material & the new ones may be a harder material but apart from that there should not be any problem....hope this helps.....cheers

After high speed driving, slow speed shudder

when it starts to shutter get the car up on a lift and spin the wheels and look and see if there is a wheel bubble.
if the brakes were done recently a binding brake pad can cause some of that.
hope this helps
