OIL PRESSURE SWITCH ON LOWER SIDE OF ENGINE NEXT TO THE OIL FILTER.BOTH ARE ON THE SAME OIL CHANNEL IN CYLINDER BLOCK.ALL YOU HAVE DO TO REMOVE IT.IS DISCONNECT OIL PRESSURE SWITCH ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR.THEN USE A OIL PRESSURE SWITCH SOCKET WITH A RARCHET WRENCH AND EXTENSION..YOU CAN BUY SOCKET AT ANY AUTO PART STORES.REMOVE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH. WHEN INSTALLING NEW ONE MAKE SURE THREADS HAS SOME KIND OF SEALER LIKE TEFLON TAPE CAN BE USED ON NEW OIL PRESSURE SWITCH IF IT DONT HAVE NO SEALER ON THREADS. WHEN YOU GET NEW ONE IN PLACE CRANK VECHICLE CHECK FOR LEAKS.

Oil light keeps coming on

1992 ford explorer with the oil light coming on, this can be due to a bad switch, this switch is called the oil pressure switch and is located near the oil filter area, this would be the cheapest way to go first and if the light still comes on then you will need to have a pressure gauge hooked to where the switch goes and the gauge will tell you if its really low on oil pressure and if it is then this may be due to worn engine bearings or weak oil pump, i will tell you i have not seen an explorer with low oil pressure just needing a oil pump, most of the time it is time for another engine. what =i have seen is alot of them with bad oil pressure switches that were making the oil light come on . hope this is helpful, good luck.

1996 Explorer that does not start. checked no voltage to run the pump. changed the solenoid and still no fix.

Did you check your fuel pump relay? If you get a haynes or repair book from your parts store they can walk you through testing. They are also in Laymen terms so they are easy to understand. Buy one specifically for your vehicle which will be around 15 to 20 dollars. They are pretty informative.

Where is the oil pressure switch

The sending unit is going to be down by the oil filter. It should have some wires running to it. If you don't have enough room to access the sending unit easily then you can purchase a special socket to extract the old sending unit. Good luck.

Where is the oil pressure switch on 99 ford explorer

You will find the sending unit next to the oil filter underneath. There will be a couple of wires going to the sending unit. Unplug the wires. You might need to purchase a special socket to remove the sending unit if you don't have easy access to the part.

No oil pressure

The oil pressure switch (also known as the oil press. sending unit) is located above the oil filter, mounted on the engine block. It is a $6 part in my area, just by chance if that's all that's wrong, I'd replace it. Hopefully it is that simple. If not, time for an oil pump? If u remove it, and crank the engine, there should be a steady flow of oil, if not then it's the pump. Good luck.
