Question about 1993 Toyota 4Runner

Very hard to start when outside temp drops below 30 d, it cranks fine. Starts and runs very well after that.

Check the cold start injector, on the side of the plenem. there is also a cold start timing valve (next to the engine coolant temp sensor) under neath the plenem which sends the signals to the injector. I have this same problem and have checked the fuel pump, relay and ingintion. now looking at these next...Good luck

bad bearings on crank or worn oil pump. Pressure will be up when cold, but will drop when engine warms up. Check for knock in lower end. If so, bad crank bearings.

My 88 dodge aries is throttle body fuel injected and when the temp falls below 30 outside, it will crank but not start. I sprayed starting fluid and it ran on that then died. it starts and runs when...


I would check for a bad coolant temperature sensor, of a bad ambient air temp. sensor. You can check these with a good voltmeter, but a scanner would make things much easier. With the scanner, you can se what the computer thinks these sensors are telling it. If it's 20 outside and one of the sensors reads something like -10, there's the problem, but a five degree variation is not enough to make a difference.

Cold starting problem


How old is your Battery? at the Temp. Stated above an Older Battery even though Good may not have Enough Cold Cranking Amps Left to Kick her Over.
