Question about Dodge Ram 1500

1 Answer

Wiper works ok on low & high. when runs on timer it stops on 1/3 swipe, after 3 swipes back to orginal starting point. Now when turned on can smell wire burning or motor over heating causing the smell. is that the sign of a new wiper motor? Or is it really wires burning? The wiper slowed down on the swipe, therefore I thing its the motor, Can you throw some light on it? Thanks 99 Dodge ram 1500

Ok I have been haven the same problem out of my 2003 dodge dakota I took it in because there was a recall on the wiper motor on some dodges they have recalled them because water was getting inside the motor and causen them to short or loose half of the functions. I would recomend calling the dealership and see if you car is on that list. If not I think it would be good to say its the motor.

Wipers will go on for a bout 5 to 7 swipes and then stop for about 1 min to 2 min and then do 5 to 7 swipes again.. and no i don't have it set on intermiten. any ideas

Suspect a wiper switch issue. The switch controls the ground for wiper operation and could have an internal circuit board issue.

Does the turn signal switch operate wind shield wipers 2001 f 150 7 wire need diagram

this is not a normal application as with washers/wipers there are multiple operations on the stalk ( up for 1 swipe- neutral /off-down 1 intermittent speed -down again 2 intermittenent wipes --3 on all the time Twist the knob of time period of swipes during intermittent swipes.. Turn switches indicate l or r ( up or down) and back to the wheel high or low beam for the head lights or twist the knob for off parks and headlights.

Wipers worked for 1 swipe and stopped straight up. Motor sound is audible. Wipers stopped swiping.

At the base of the wiper there is a nut, it might be under a snap on cover. Move the wiper arm down into parked position, tighten the nut and the wipers should work. That is most likely the case but... If not it could be the ball and socket on the mechanism under the fresh air vent. Last option is the wiper motor gear drive.

I just bought a 1997 Chrysler Town & Country (had a 95 years ago and miss it) My dilemma, the wipers don't work. When I push the washer in they will come on for one swipe and that is it. ...

if you are getting the one swipe then the switch is getting power to the motor. also the body control module is turning the wiper relay on to get the one swipe. there is a wiper module made onto the motor that keeps the motor on as is sees the request from the switch. the module has a circuit board in it that can get bad contacts and not allow power to motor to move the wiper arms. i suggest installing the wiper motor.

1985 gmc k1500 wipers only move at 1 slow spped, interminttent doesnt work at all. How fast is fast and why is fast not working?

Slow is the same speed as 'mist'. Mist is when you twist the control arm backwards to induce a single swipe. If you hold it, you will run the wipers in low speed. Fast is faster than that. Probably by 30% or more.

Turn the wipers on high speed. Wiggle the connector at the wiper motor. If the wipers run sporadically as you wiggle the connector, you either have a bad connector or a bad circuit board on the wiper motor.
