A 2 hour trip with a freeze plug leaking is almost a guarantee that you will be buying a new engine. Stop driving it until you can get the freeze plug fixed. It will only take an hour or so to change it if your friend has an skill at car repairs. Hope this helps.

98 gmc jimm 4x4 4.3l v6 replaced plugs, wires and distributor cap and rotor. Still getting P0304 code and rough idle. Higher rpms flatten out roughness but take off feels off. Any help??

spray carb/choke cleaner all around intake gasket mating surface on heads. (while motor is running) If rpms change you have a bad intake gasket.

I found a 98 jimmy for $1600 its got 175,000 miles tho any kind of on going problems with a 98 with this kind of mileage? cuz i got burned with a 98 blazer, had problems with everything from transfer case...

Its the same thing except it says GMC on the front. The most common issues with either of them is ABS problems, wheel bearings, ball joints, intake gaskets, plugged heater cores, injector issues, fuel pressure regulators, fuel pumps, catalytic converters, wiper motors, window motors, 4x4 issues, and the list goes on.

2000 gmc jimmy is in 2wh drive,I switch to 4wh or 4whlow,or 4whauto and the light keeps flashes but never engages

Hi:
There are only two major components to that system:

A shift control motor, that is mounted to the transfer case, and a shift control module, which is mounted in the center dash area, below the radio. The module is the most likely suspect to fail, but the shift motor is a possibility still.

Freeze Plug Leak on my 1996 GMC Jimmy

i would hardly call this repair simple or inexpensive. the part itself yes the labor probably not. i have made this repair myself to my 97 jimmy if you have 4 wheel drive the transfer case up front makes this repair next to impossible from the underside of the car plus the fact that it is behind the motor mount means the the mount must be removed. this involves raising or removing the motor. simple? on a car of this age you will probably find (as i did) the motor mounts are damaged might as well replace them too the parts are fairly inexpensive. also look into replacing all the plugs so you dont have to do this again in a few years. oh yea use the proper antifreeze mix in your radiator water is what rusts out the plugs
