Question about 1996 Ford Explorer

No matter where I set the control on my 96 Explorer, all I get is defrost. Any Suggestions?

The truck needs a new MODE switch or call it a selector switch instead for the heater control unit

AC/Heat only comes out from the defrost on my 2003 ford explorer


under the hood on the firewall you will see a thin plastic white or black vacuum line, it connects to the engine and that line controls the zones, if it breaks or comes loose the defrost will stay on no matter what you select.

I have a 96 chevy s-10 blazer. the heat works but only out the defrost. Im not sure about the air or not, the switch has to be on vent to try it but since no matter what i put the switch on it always comes...


there is an accuator on the evap box which controls this movement now it can be this or the control assy has gone bad you will probably have to see a mechanic to have this repaired

the next thing to check would be the selector motors, these motors are what move door to get floor or defrost or vent air and also hot/cold air, look under the dash try to find them, there bolted to heater box,there are 3, locate one by one then move every control and watch to see linkage move find the one that doesnt move and thats your problem, hope this helps.heres a picture to help you know what it looks like.7d37251.gif

change your Heater Control Valve. I've seen a quite a few of them do this and it's almost always the valve
