SOURCE: 2002 chevy Blazer hard starting

This sounds like the fuel pump is shot. The pump has a 'dead' spot and when the engine is started by using 'nasty' starting fluid it will go to the running mode and run fine. Never use starting fluid!!! A bit of gas is best, just use common sence. Frankster016

SOURCE: cannot get 1987 chevy van 20 to keep running... stalls out

Best do a fuel pressure test. Should have chg. fuel filter from the get go. The only other filter is on the end of the fuel pump in tank. Bad gas and dirty gas will plug up fuel filter, hense burn pump up.

I have a 2000 chevy Silverado 4.3L gas that refuses to start during or after it rains. Before I start ripping my engine apart, does anyone know how to resolve this? I'm stumped....

Do a voltage drop test on power and ground circuits for engine , PCM . You have mositure intrusion , high resistance problem !
What is the voltage drop?
This means that approximately 2% of the supplied voltage is lost in the wire itself. Excessive voltage drop may result in unsatisfactory operation of, and damage to, electrical and electronic equipment.
What is Voltage Drop Your problem hasn't anything to do with you needing to rip your engine apart . Electrical problem !

Motor turns over but won't start plugs r dry when I take one out is that spark or gas problem

Possible that gas is not getting into the cylinders. Spray some starting fluid down or into the intake. If it rumbles to life for a second, if it even fires a bit, you know that it is not a spark problem, cause yes it's got plenty of spark-good ignition-, so it must been not getting gas. Or if no effect from the starting fluid-careful, it's highly volatile- then it could be a spark problem.
If it fires, you would start diagnosing the fuel circuits that apply. The fuel pump puts gas up to the engine, to the injectors and under high pressure so the injector will spray gas into the cylinder. It's that simple. You just have to trust the manufacturer did a good job on the mile or so of wiring it all together so the computer can make the engine run. Any time you have a problem, check for trouble codes.

You should hear the fuel pump in the gas tank turn on for 2 seconds, to put pressure in the fuel lines and up to the engine, when the key is turned to ON. Make sure you can hear it. You may need to stand near the rear of the car to listen for it while someone turns the key to on. If you don't hear it, and the car won't start, you would need to check the fuel pump.

Car wont start after washing

You have water getting into your engine bay, it may be running down the firewall to your ECM and PCM cable bundles and seeping into the car or you may be spraying water into your airbox.
check to make sure your airbox is tight and look and feel under your dash for a wet spot near the fire wallis it's your airbox,,,, stop spraying at it, if it's wet under your dash take it to a shop to get it sealed correctly

Citroen Despatch turns over but won't start, not battery problem

Fuel delivery, probably.

Try the following - remove the airbox and spray some starter fluid into the throttle body while someone else cranks the engine. If it tries to start up/run for a few seconds, then you know it's a fuel problem. If it doesn't change anything, then it's most likely a spark issue.

Check the plugs/wires/etc for fouling.

replace the fuel filter which on the drivers side, under the truck, by the rear passenger's side door. If nothing still, then you need to check fuel pressure with a guage, about $45 for the tool. I've used it about 5 times in 1 year. You will have to do some research on the proper starting psi. But it sounds like a fuel pump problem, which is in the fuel tank. I've changed one by myself, not too terrribly hard. But make sure the fuel tank is near empty, two bolts to undo, that hold the two tank straps up, get a jack with a wide plate, because you cant drop the tank all the way to the ground, otherwise you will rip the wires off. I replaced the pump on my 99 k1500 Suburban, 5 years ago. You also will need either plastic or metal fuel line disconnect tools (they are a pain to disconnnect). The pump costs about $275. Go with a pricey one with a reliable manufacturer, you only want to do this job once, per 20 years.

Mitsubishi triton 1988 wont start

Check the compression using a compression tester you can buy at a parts store. The compression has to be fairly high in all cylinders to start up the engine. If not you may have bad rings . Check plugs and wires too.

Where did you check for spark? Unplug the coil wire from the distributer cap and check there by placing the end of the wire near something like a ground wire or head bolt while cranking the engine. Don't hold it in your hand. If you have spark comming from the coil wire but not from the cylinder wires then I agree with stevevpb. Very possibly the cap and rotor. A word of advice. If you decide to replace the cap and rotor and/or possibly the iginition wire set as well, use only OEM parts. Yes they are more expensive but many aftermarket ignition parts wind up costing you a lot more in the long run. I've learned that the hard way. An OEM cap will probably run you about 50 bucks; rotor, 20 bucks; wire set, 150 bucks. What a rip but hey, it is what it is.
