Started running hot, replaced thermostat and still runs hot.Top radiator hose is hot bottom is cold.

Did you put the thermostat in backwards? If you did, it wont open when hot. Thermostats look pretty much the same - with some minor variations. It's important to note the the side with the spring should be facing the (hot) engine and the other side facing the (cool) radiator as shown in the image below. If the spring side doesn't get hot - it won't open to let hot water from the engine flow to the radiator for proper cooling.

Why is my 2001 cadillac running hot?

With the thermostat out you should see a lot of circulation. If not investigate water pump. Is the fan electric fan working? Bypass the relay and run the fan whenever the engine is running. If it doesn't overheat with the fan running then investigate fan control. make sure the coolant is topped off and use a thermometer in the radiator to verify temperature.

Cooling fan runs intermittently and causes the engine to run hot

The cooling fan isn't causing the engine to run hot, it's electrical and cannot heat an engine. It is turning on in response to your engine running hot. Check coolant level and age, if it's still running hot then check the thermostat - it could be stuck closed. If the thermostat is fine and coolant level is full, it could be partially clogged radiator or head gasket problem (a sure sign of bad head gasket is that your coolant keeps disappearing with no leaks).

Running hot, replaced thermostat, replaced waterpump. still running hot within a few minutes of running.

if it is overheating within a few minutes of running first use a laser temp gauge to ensure that the gauge is working. if it is then next step would be to have the block tested. even with a stuck thermostat it shouldn't overheat that fast.

I just replaced my water pump and my car runs hot, right now there is no thermostat in the car and it still runs hot, what could be the problem

I bet it does run hot, a thermostat has two functions, to bring the coolant to operating temp and to regulate the flow of coolant thru the system, If the coolant runs to fast thru the radiator it will not be cool enough, engine will over heat, check that the fans are working, have you flushed the radiator, is the radiator flowing?

1990 toyota pickup is running hot and when i shut

Try with the small stuff first. Replace the thermostat. Before you do that, you should flush and refill your system with just water after the flush process. The bottle of solution that you put into your radiator to flush it and clean it has instructions, follow those. Then let the car cool down and drain the system and refill it with fresh water only. Run this water for a bit and then do it once more. Once cooled back down , replace thermostat and replace the 50/50 mix of antifreeze and water.
Check engine oil level as well, low oil will overheat engines quickly.

What should be the operating temp of Grand Cherokee on warm day? Mine sometimes runs 240-250 degrees

U didn't say the engine, if it is a 6cylinder then around 195-200 F, if a V8 they run very hot, around 225 F, so you have a problem, is the coolant clean? no rust present? I would suspect that you need the radiator pulled and roded out by a radiator shop.

Engine running hot.

There are sometimes different thermostats available, but not that much different (180 or 190 deg) This is more likely a radiator problem than the thermostat. Especially if it is getting worse. You could have it flushed, but in my experience, that rarely, if ever, helps.
Check the guage, though. If it isn't steaming or boiling over, maybe it isn't really running so hot after all. If it is boiling over, have a mechanic make sure there isn't a bad head gasket. Also make sure the fins aren't full of dead butterflies. Look inside the radiator and see if there are crusty bits around the circulation holes (if you can see inside). If so, there are probably some plugged tubes. Simplest solution is a new or rebuilt one.
