Question about 2000 Hyundai Elantra

1 Answer

I was coming to a stop sign and I think that I may have ran over a rock or a piece of tree limb and then all of a sudden I heard a really loud pop. It sounded just like a balloon popping. When I got home I couldn't find anything wrong but it was also dark out. Have any idea what that could of been?

Check under the car for oil leaks, if there are none then it was what you hit, hitting the bottom of your car. If it still runs fine I wouldn't worry about it

It's most likely a timing problem, you may try too adjust it yourself; Loosen set screw on distributor and get a timing light. there also a chance it jumped a timing gear when you heard the loud bang..

Ran over tree limb abs &brake light symbol came on. when Vehicle is started the dinger dings for about 15 seconds. no visual signs of damaga.

If the abs and brake lights stay on check the abs sensor on the wheel, or side that you hit the branch on odds are that the plug in to the sensor came unplugged, or tore out a wire.
