Don't want to steer you away from this or scare you away from saving some money...probably a lot of money, but depending on the size of the motor (litere size)...it is most likely an interference motor. This means that piston to valve contact is almost sure to happen if you make a mistake. You need to be very carefull when doing these types of jobs. If the valves bend because a mistake was made...it could make the price of a preventative maintanence timing belt seem like pocket change. Head has to come off of the car and well....it can get very expensive and messy. My proffesional suggestion is that you have a trustworthy, competent technician do this job. When you do it, make sure you change all pulleys, hydraulic tensioner, and water pump if it is in line...which I am almost positive it is. Just get it done right the first time. Thats my motto. If you are aware of the risks and are ok with it....I will be more than happy to post the service procedure for you. There are some special tools that you may need as well

2002 Mitsubishi Galant - When I should change the Timing belt ?

Timing belts should be changed at around 60,000 miles on engines with timing belts-especially on 'interference engines', which are engines that, when the belt breaks while the engine is running, will at least damage the valves and sometimes even pistons. You do not say what engine or model car your Mitsubishi engine is, but most Mitsubishi engines are interference engines. Better safe than sorry.

2002 Lancer is running fine is turning over 70,000 miles soon should timing belt be replaced?

Timing belts should be changes every 50-70K miles. Even though its running fine, the belt can get worn out, have splits, or become brittle and could snap at any time. I highly recommended having it changed to prevent damage that could occur if it does break.

Location of a sensor

Replacing a CPS can be easy or hard. On the 2002 Gallant 2.4, it is located behind the timing belts. Removal of the main pulley, the covers and the belts is required. This isn't as hard as it sounds and is essentially the same as changing the timing belts.

Remove the drive belts, crankshaft pulley, and timing covers. Align the timing marks on the camshaft and crankshaft and r+r the belt
