I need to find out where a coolant sensor, map sensor and ecm go on a 1983 cadillac fleetwood brougham ht4100

    i know how the MAP sensor looks but i seriously cant find it at all sir and i do appreciate your help but i cant find it

    seems that you know your stuff pretty well so what causes me to loose power and have water and black smoke from my tailpipe on the same 83 fl br ht4100

The coolant sensor is on the front of the engine next to the thermostat housing where the upper radiator hose meets the engine.
The manifold pressure sensor (MAP) is on the firewall and looks like the picture below.
The ECM is in the right pillar to the right of the passenger's feet.

    sorry--apparently your car did not get the bulletin fix.
    If you open the glove box and remove the glove box liner and then remove the big black plastic panel that is under the dash on the passengers side you will see a black vacuum hose under the dash going to the sensor which is located behind the dash in that small space between the glove box opening and the end of the dash. If you get a mirror and put it in the glove box opening look over to your right hand side behind the dash.

    IF you find that there are 2 sensors, One is the MAP and the other is the BARO sensor. ONLY the MAP has the vacuum hose on it.

    IF the sensors are the ROUND metal style, You MUST replace BOTH the MAP

    well, now that I'm looking at the right manual...
    So do you have throttle body injection or fuel rail with 8 separate injectors? If you're running rich, you may have a blown diaphram in the regulator. If you have throttle body injection, the regulator is inside the throttle body. I saw the part a minute ago for $35--a lot of money for a piece of rubber. I can't find a picture to help you but the manual says there are 8 screws holding the regulator cover to the throttle body. Take those out and you should see the diaphram behind the cover. If it's torn, it will let fuel into the throttle body.
    If you have regular fuel injection with a rail, the regulator is probably at the end of the rail or somewhere along with a vacuum line on it. The regulator is connected to the rail directly or by a hose and has a second hose to return fuel to the tank. Again, if the diaphram is torn, fuel will come thru and go thru the vacuum line to the throttle body--thus black smoke at the tailpipe. Just pull the vacuum lhose off and plug it with a golf tee. Then start the car to see if gas comes out of the regulator vacuum port.
    Give me some feedback on this, and we'll try to get you fixed up. :-)

Need to turn off my barke and abs light off that are on my dashboard for my 94 cadillac fleetwood brougham


without a scan tool and/or a DVOM you will be guessing as whats wrong

since you made no comments in tour post about physical brake issues then you are most likely dealing with a wheel speed sensor issue

however, you need the codes pulled to verify which sensors need replacing

1983 cadillac fleetwood brougham 4.1 liter battery not charging


check the alternator fuse that can be a fuse link by the battery pole,check alternator voltage on the alternator red wire or connector,it should the same as on the battery ,check ground wires for loose intermitent contact
