Contrary to Georgies belief, this sounds more like you Air mass meter is either Faulty/ knackered, new mass metres can be bought for about 70 to 80 quid and are really easy to change.

(Air mass metres measure the amount of air your engine is intaking and supply the appropiate amount of fuel, if your mass metre is not working correctly you car will be like a standard diesel engine rather than a turbo, car will be really sluggish/ very little acceleration)

Just do a quick search on VW air metres and this should confirm the above. I can almost 100% guarentee thats the fault on your car

Hi

The first thing you should do is have the MAF sensor checked out because the symptoms you describe are that of a faulty MAF.

Very best regards

It sounds like the turbo has gone out. That will make a diesel sluggish and burn oil out the turbo. replace the turbo and it should be fine

havent a clue what power deviation means ,the coolant sensor has failed which is why its showing a short ,but i had a problem with my escort turbo diesel and it was the operating piston on the turbo ,it has two outlets ,one to the turbo and one direct to the exhaust ,well it was stuck in the direct to exhaust side so it was like a driving a ford 100e sidevalve engine ,changed the piston as it was corroded up and its like a formula 1 car now .hope this helps have a look i know its boxing day in the UK and cold but a quick look will not hurt

Sluggish diesel engine vw polo

could be anything causing this like a timing belt change and the timing isnt correct to a new fuel filter needed ask a local mechanic to have a look is the best idea ,because it could be a turbo and one of the air intake pipes is collapsing or the turbo is finished

Engine cuts and takes long to restart

If it is a diesel it might be the same issue as I also had with mine. What VW does not do well is tell you in their TDI diesels you need to use a 505.01 approved oil otherwise your camshaft lobes will be rounded off to circles and not tear drop shape like they normally are. Most lube places don't have the correct oil that is approved by VW and it leaded to the premature engine wear. I have 88K on mine and they said the engine if blown and sounds like the turbo is going out also. You might get a diag. at a VW shop to see if that is it! Hope you find the problem!
