It starts with the security light and then gets worse till the car won't start anymore. The security system (VATS/Passkey) is indeed installed on these GM cars and it is an anti-owner more than an anti-theft. There are 3 parts involved: 1) The chip-key 2) The lock cylinder 3) The TDM (aka the brain of the system) if any of these parts fails or is even slightly malfunctioning, the car stays stuck where you are and you only get a dealer asking you about 1,000$ to fix it. And all the 3 parts have a quite short lifespan. Way too many people got in this situation (including myself). I don't recommend any partial solution or any used parts as it would happen again way too soon to be acceptable and if it happens 100 miles from home (like it happened to me....) it's a big burden. I finally made it to save my beloved 94 Park Avenue (with the same system that is installed in your car) with a solution that I found on the internet and that bypasses the entire factory security system, all 3 pieces altogether and you can even remove the TDM at the end and use 99c keys without chip. The product I used is at http://newrockies.com and is still working perfectly after 5 years. Don't go to the dealer!

That sounds normal for an aftermarket security system. Solid means the system is armed.

What is security light on dash is on

It means the security system has detected a fault in one or more of the intrusion sensors like door ajar switches for instance and it is alerting you to that fact. You need a shop to test the system with a special scan tool.

How do you disarm infiniti i 30 security system

Please check that the key is paired with the vehicle's security system. If you have a spare key, then please try that too.
Is there a flashing key symbol warning light on the dash when attempting to start? This could mean that there is a pairing issue, and that the security system needs reprograming.

My car will not always start, someone suggested the chip in the key is not working properly?

If the chip or the "security" system for that matter is not working, you will see a light on the dash somewhere that says SECURITY. This light means that the key, ignition or TDM (theft deterrent module) is not working properly and shutting the starter off. Here is a link that explains the situation. http://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.yolasite.com/

Flashing red light on dash when car is off?

The flashing red light means your security system is working. It is nothing to worry about. Most cars now have flashy lights to deter thieves.

Red blinking warning light beside clock in center of dash. What is it?

This is the factory installed "Security" light. It blinks to let you know that the security system is active, and to ward off potential theives. It's part of the factory anti-theft system. Also, it is a diode, and consumes virtually no battery power.
Normal condition; nothing to worry about.
