Peugeot 106 independence brake lights

Hi, I have a Peugeot 106 Independence Y reg. None of my brake lights work and it's not the bulbs. This has happened before about 2 years ago and a friend of mine had a look and said there was some kind of switch by the clutch pedal with he did something with and they then worked fine. Could someone tell me what it was and how/ where I can find it please?

Many thanks

I have a 106, the break lights all went at the same time. The indicator on the passenger side ticks too fast, other is fine. Break light works on the passenger side after i changed the bulb but has not worked on the drivers side. Have checked all the fuses and none are broken. If anyone can advise i would be very grateful, Thanks.

Peugot are known for water getting into the rear light clusters, this causes shorting of the rear tail lights brake lights and indicators. They may not all be affected at the same time. Each bulb must be removed and the connections cleaned to achieve a good connection. Spray the whole bulb assembly with WD40 to eradicate all moisture. Each bulb connection is positive and the metal strips to each bulb acts as an earth. These must all be rust free and clean! Also the connection plug from the loom will need to be removed and each tab cleaned. This should cure your lighting troubles.

Ok man, i don't if that helps you, but when i tried it in my 1989 peugeot 205.
Try this: put on the hazzard lights and that will test some of the brake light circuit.

most european cars only give colored lights when maintenance is due or a malfunction is detected. since the car is running "sluggish", may want to get a fualt code pulled from the ECM to help find the problem.

My back light and one of my headlights are not working on my peugeot 206. My boyfriend changed the bulb in the back light but it's still not working. All of the fuses are ok. What else could it be?

Hi mate,
This is a common problem on the rear lights on 206's.
They have a problem with water leaking into the units and over time this corrodes the bulb holders and sometimes the wiring plugs. the only remedy is to replace the bulb holder unit.
As for the head lights they may just require a pair of bulbs.

Theres a light come on my dash board an don't know what it is. it on left hand side on the dash board. its looks like the end of fire hydrant. its a peugeot 106 independence. 1991

Please you need to take the car for diagnosis because a couple of things can bring up/ turn up that light.

But this is not a great deal of problem but I recommend you get a scanner hooked up to the car.

Good luck.

I have a Peugot 106 Independence and the battery charger warning light comes on intermittently although this does not seem to affect running. Car had inspection but no fault was found. Does any one have...

If the battery had not been replaced, then this should have been replaced before the alternator.

The alternator belt (serpentine belt) should be well in tension, when this is not in tension, or need to be replaced you get battery warning light.

To put serpentine belt in tension you need to undo the tensioner arm bolt a bit, and move the tensioner pulley. Sometimes you need to hammer the arm with a rubber hammer to do this.
