Question about 2005 Chevrolet Aveo

3 Answers

2006 Chevy Aveo 7:21:30 PM Dashboard lights and both tail lights are out. Turned light dimmer to the right on dash and dash lights are still out. Checked bulbs on both tail lights and they are fine. Replaced them anyway but they are still out. Check all fuses and there are no blown fuses. Are the problems with the dashboard lights and taillights connected? What do I do to fix the problem with both?? Please help ASAP!!!!

Yep through the dimmer switch itself. The dimmer switch is either bad or the pigatail to the dimmer switch is bad.

The dashlights and tailights are connected through the same switch you tried to adjust the dash lights with. This switch is probably bad but have seen issues with the plugs that plug into these. Look for burnt or discolored wiring on the plug going to the switch if there is no evidence of damaged wiring then the switch is bad.

I have the same problem, but a little different. Sometimes my dashlights work and sometimes they don't (they will come on or go off when I'm driving). Only right tail light and right parking lights are out when the dashlights are not working....Thoughts???

If you take your vehicle to the shop let them look at it and find out what it is without paying for them to fix it .. Most pick a parts places will have what you need. Working on vehicles is pretty easy. But a solution to your question I recently had the same problem and come to find out Auto Zone gave me the wrong light bulb for my tailight which caused the fuse to keep blowing out. I took one tailight bulb that I replaced out then all the tailights came on so I knew it was the wrong bulb.

The dash lights and the tail lights are on the same fuse ( keep that in mind any time you don't have dash lights you don't have tail light either) recheck the fuses, try swapping it with anther fuse if that does not do it you will need to take to a shop.

What do i need to look out for ,as my dashboard light and exterior park lights are not working. My hazards are working though. I have checked the fuses and all seem ok ..

If it is a General Motors car you most have no tail lights either. Your problem may be the dimmer switch on the dash being turned down...but definitely make sure you have tail lights!

Dash light stopped working

check fuse first... check that the dimmer isnt turned all the way down... check the power coming from the dimmer switch... and if all else fails, pull the instrument cluster and check bulbs.

I'm not shore about the 2006 but have you checked your tail lights as Ive found that if there's a glob out on some cars then your dash lights dont work. it maybe a fuse or is the dimmer switch turned down. try these 3 things I hope this helps

DOES THE DIMMER SWITCH FOR DASH LIGHTS NOT WORKING HAVE ANY THING TO DO WITH TAIL LIGHTS AND PARKING LIGHTS NOT WORKING

Automobile companies make the dash lights stop working to let you know that the tail lights are out. Usually it is just an indication that you have blown a tail light fuse. First make sure that you do not just have the dimmer turned down on the dash lights. But if the dash and tail lights are out, first check the fuse block to see if the fuse for the tail lights has blown. If you change the fuse and it blows right away you will have to start searching for electrical shorts.
Another tell is when you notice that the turn signals are flashing faster than normal. This means that one or more of your turn signal bulbs has burned out.

Have a 1992 chevy 2500 half the cluster lights go out aswell the fuel pessure reads zero and the temp max reading. whent the lights are out or the dimmer is turned off the gauges work properly but as soon...

It sounds like a bad ground. Check the ground circuits to your dash lights as well as check out your tail lights to make sure they are working properly. (The tail lights run on the same circuit as the dash lights, although tey have a separate grounding point.) The gauges are most likely going goofy because the dash and/or tail lights are trying to pull ground through the gauges circuit.

I have a 2005 Chevy Aveo and my dashboard ligths will not come on. I have replaced my headlight switch, but that does not seem to fix the problem, help please.

I know this may sound stupid but I have seen people do this many times. 1st have you checked you fuse, 2nd have you turned the handle left or right on you headlight switch or there maybe a separate Dimmer on the dash you need to find it they have a dimming system somewhere. If this guys don't work it's probably a wiring problem and should go to the dealer.

Toyota Corolla 2006; Dash lights not working and tail lights not working. Checked all small fuses under the hood and under the steering wheel inside the car. I don't know which fuse engages the tail...

I had the same issues. Dash dead, tail lights dead. Fuses were fine, Dimmer relay was fine...So I got to the Tail Light Relay.

Removed the glove box, one screw on the right. Reach up (above the space where the glove box 'area' would be and there are 3 or 4 relays all sitting on top of a junction box. All of them were loose. I pushed them in...and voila! I was getting scared after the obvious.

My 2004 Aveo's great! Except I have a question, how come there is no lighting to help me see the speedometer better at night?

There should be a switch on the left side of the dash for the lights there will be a dimmer switch there also it is most likely turned down adjust that switch to brighter that sould do it but if you have no lights at all then you have a issue inside your dashboard

2005 Chevy Aveo LS Dashboard lights won't come on

The problems stated above seem to be caused by SP101 (specifically contact #1) being burned and contact 3 (dash lights), and contacts 2, 4, & 5 not receiving power. SP101 is located inside the fuse box under the hood. It is a white, 20 pin connector that splices wires internally. Either replace the connector and the purple/white wire, or solder/splice the wires together and solder or crimp. I don't know if the dealer sells the splice, I'm looking into that because I need it. I don't know why this splice malfunctions and the left side (identical) doesn't. Unfortunately, this is common in the Aveo and the dealer mechanics seem to be totally clueless!
