Question about 2001 Kia Optima
You have to first see if you get fuel and or spark. To check spark you need an extra spark plug to put into one of the wires and lay it on something grounded. When you turn over the engine you should see a spark from the electrode. If no spark you can take out your ignition control module and have it checked at you local parts store for free. They also will give you readings to check your coils to see if they are ok. Your ecm can be checked by a larger shop or at dealership shop. If you are not getting fuel you should turn key and listen for the pump to kick on. If you do not hear the pump you should check your relay first in the fuse and relay box. If the relay clicks when you turn the key on then I would say the fuel pump is bad.
