I had the same problem right when the warranty period had just expiried. They checked every sensor but one in the brake system. The final one is in a rear hub and they estimated $2000 because of the complexity of getting at the sensor. Since this sensor has only caused the disabling of the ABS system I said forget it. You want to be sure however that the brakes are otherwise operating properly.

It means there is a fault in the brakes/anti lock braking system. This should be immediately seen to by a mechanic. It may be best to have a mobile mechanic come, or to tow it to a service centre (might not be best to drive)

Would your engine light come on if your ABS and brake light come on?

If the ABS warning light comes on the engine light should not come on as well. ABS light shows there is something wrong with the brakes. The engine light shows that there is something wrong with the engine.

the module is bad. needs a new abs pump. to temporary remedy it find the pump and disconnect its plug. be careful as the abs now is not working ( not that it was before) and incase of full breaking car will lock and slide tires. take it to a shop to get replaced.

ABS light is on constantly

It is probably a wheel sensor, have the brakes checked for wear you may need new brake pads,
or the rotors may need turned, Also check your brake fluid level

Replacing brakes on 2005 nissan maxima

No but thier is an important step to take while doing brakes so that back pressure does not upset or contaminate the ABS.Make sure you clamp the flexible brake hose with a hose line clamp that will not damage hose.Loosen the bleed nipple just enough so that the pressure from the piston being pushed back forces the fluid out.You will notice the color of the fluid is different compared to whats in the master cylinder.Heat destroys whats in and around the brake piston and better to be rid of it than letting it stay in the lines.Once piston is all the way back assemble brake system, undo clamp and bleed as normal,If done right there will be very little air and no brake issues in regard to the ABS.Good luck
