Starter has 12 volts to the constant but is not getting voltage to solenoid already changed ignition switch. When key is turned relays on top of engine bay click. Starter will turn if you jump from constant 12 volts to solenoid. Getting message on display that says no bus I assume this is a fuse message but I checked all fuses in fuse box but they are all good

I would start looking at your starting relays and inspect your Neutral Safety Switch to the transmission. the switch keeps the motor starting when in gear so it doesn't lurch the vehicle forward when starting. also look closely at your linkage to your transmission and make sure the shifter is fully in park..
Good luck

There may be a security code in the bcm preventing starting.Try disconnecting both battery cables hold both cables ends together for about 30 sec reconnect and try to start. This can happen if power and communication were lost to the bcm. Disconnecting the battery and touching the cable ends together forces the bcm to reboot and clears any possible codes. If it was a security code it should restart but if it happens in the future there may be a problem with the bcm/body control module. Please advise of progress or if another solution may be in order.

Hi, if the engine fails to crank, there is a fault in one of the components in the battery/ignition/starter circuit.

Causes

  • Low battery (Check battery voltage, recharge if low, or jump start with another vehicle or battery charger).
  • Loose or corroded battery cables (Inspect, clean and tighten BOTH ends of BOTH battery cables).
  • Bad starter relay wiring connections or ground connection (Inspect, clean, tighten wiring connections).
  • Bad starter relay/solenoid (Check for voltage at relay, if relay has voltage but there is no "click" when key is turned to start, replace relay).
  • Bad starter (Jump battery voltage direct to starter to see if it spins, or remove starter and have it bench tested at auto parts store).
  • Damaged starter drive or teeth on flywheel (Remove starter and inspect drive gear and flywheel teeth, replace damaged parts if necessary).
  • Bad ignition switch (Check to see if voltage reaches starter relay/solenoid when turn to start. If not, check for open P/N switch and brake or clutch pedal switch. Replace ignition switch if defective).
  • Open P/N safety switch, or open Brake Pedal Safety Switch (automatic transmission) or open Clutch Pedal Switch (manual transmission). Bypass switch with jumper wire to see if engine cranks, or use test light or voltmeter to check for voltage passing through switch when ignition is turned to start.
  • Engine seized due to bearing failure or internal damage (Use socket and long handle to see if engine can be turned by hand, if not engine is locked up).
  • Engine hydrolocked due to coolant leak from leaky head gasket (Use socket and wrench to see if engine rotates, remove spark plugs and see if coolant comes out or engine can not be cranked with plugs out).

Won't start makes clicking sound, plenty of juice in battery

A battery can show 12 volts yet still be dead (not pushing any amps). Many battery places or auto parts store will do a free test.

My 2006 buick lacrosse wont start radio and lights work but its not saying nothing when i try to crank it

Hello! Do you hear a click when the key is turned?...If no click is heard either the ignition key, the Crank relay, the starter, or the battery are suspect...Having lights and radio does not mean the battery is capable of running a starter motor......Put a meter on the battery...should read 12.5 volts...Turn key...Does voltage drop to 8 or 9 volts? Bad battery...If all is well with battery and connections to it...Check the starter fuse # 33 in the under hood fuse/relay box...If the fuse is good that click you should hear is from the Crank Relay in that box...If all of the above is OK connect your meter to the Purple wire that is connected to the starter motor...When the key is turned 12 volts must be on that wire...If there is the starter motor is defective...So, #1...Do you hear a click when key is turned...That would point at a bad starter or weak battery...#2...If you do not hear a click bad fuse #33, bad Crank Relay, bad ignition switch...#3...If fuse is good Bad Crank Relay or Ignition switch; Crank Relay is a low cost item ($10)...Replace Relay...Stop there and send a comment as to results...Guru...saailer

My car wont start but my battery is good it just clicks

if your battery has 12 volts and you can hear click noise , try to locate the click noise. If that is coming from the starter location then the starter mtr is not working.a voltage check at the starter mtr with the key in the start position will verify the problem. if 12 volts is not present at the starter mtr thethe start switch or wires could be the problem

All power is working in my vehicle, even when I go to start it. when i turn the key, nothing happens, no power loss but no clicking or notice of pwer to the engine.

You don't say what model Ford you have. Some have the start solenoid on the wheel well while others have the solenoid on the starter. If yours is on the wheel well, with someone to help you, please check the voltage at your starter side of the solenoid with the key in start position. If you don't have a volt/ohm meter, they are available for a few bucks at the hardware store, auto parts store or many other fine retail outlets.

How do you find the solenoid? Find the battery and follow the big wire until it attaches to the solenoid. There will be another large wire attached to the 'other' side of the solenoid and that wire will go to the starter. On the battery side, you will find a constant 12 volts. The only time 12 volts goes to the 'starter side' of this device is when you turn the key to start. If there is voltage there with the key on, you have a problem with the starter. If there is no voltage on the starter side with the key on, there is problem with the solenoid.

Good luck with your project and thank you for your question @ FixYa.com

How do u know if your starter went out? Besides it not starting

a defective starter will sometimes just click and nothing else and also they will just do nothing, have seen it both ways, u start by getting under the car and have someone hold the key in the engine crank position, there should be 12 volts at the Purple wire on the starter solenoid on any GM, if that shows 12 volts make sure the battery is good and the battery cables are clean and making a good connection, at that point if all looks good u have a defective starter.

2006 Dodge Caravan, just clicks when I try to start it, and the speedometer and gauges move all the up then back down. Is this a starter, checked the battery, it is good. The battery and all are original,...

Could be a bad starter. You need to check the amperage the starter is using. Does it start with a boost could be a bad battery. Check battery with a volt meter and see what voltage you have there. Less than 12 volt the battery is no good.
