Question about 1988 Mazda B2200

1 Answer

Wont Start 1988 Mazda B2200 wont start after replacing, plugs, wires, rotor, cap and coil. What happenned? Cant figure what possibly could have gone wrong. Have done my own tune-ups before with no problem. Just finished putting plugs and wires on my 97Buick Regal. Pulled my Mazda truck in the garage today and replaced the plugs ,wires, coil, rotor, distributor cap and coil. The ignition system doesn't have points and condenser. My repair manual says its electronic. Have had this truck for about two years and am retired and use it for short trips and such. The only thing weird was when I pulled the coil wire off it had oil in the top where it connects to the old coil. Stumped by that for sure. Thought this would be an easy job of tuning but to my dismay the truck instead of running better wont start. Put the old coil back on thinking it might be the new coil that was bad. There is no one but me here so I cant see if Im getting any fire.Checked all the plug wires and have a good connection. Checked everything and cant figure it out. Everything was replaced exactly as it was removed. Please help.

Have another look at your plug wires, and make sure that you have them in the right order. As you probably know, if the firing order is wrong, you can have problems. That is somewhere for you to start, anyway.

91 MAZDA B2200 DIES AND WONT START UNTIL IT SITS AWHILE HAS NO FIRE TO SPARK PLUGS WHEN THIS HAPPENS

I'd say the coil is shot. However when ot does happen make sure you still have 12volts going to the coil. This will help eliminate wiring issues.

I have a 1987 mazda b2200 and have ggone through all the parts on distrubutor and coil and the truck has no spark coming from the coil .. c an anyone save me from taking it to a shop and costing me...

If you have 12 volts ( or 7.5volts) to one side of the coil and nothing on the lead to the distributor then I would think that the coil is burnt out or faulty. If you have the voltage through the coil to the distributor but cannot generate a spark out of the coil lead then it points to the module in the distributor being faulty. IF you have spark out of the coil lead but not out of the distributor cap to plugs then check the inside of the distributor cap for cracks and /or the rotor button not turning

I think you have established that it is getting fuel but I guess what I would do is check into the throttle body itself.

Wont start..no spark computer problem?

many things will cause no spark bad distributor cap or rotor.bad plug wires.ignition timing to far advanced cause by loose distributor.could have faulty ignition coil or module.check ignition fuse.probably could be faulty PCM i would have it checked out.could have bad crankshaft sensor.

Idling problem

need to adjust idle speed by turning air adjusting screw on throttle body idle should be 750 - 790 RPM. make sure spark plugs and wires okay. make sure distributor cap and rotor good.replace fuel filter do a little tune because if engine not fine tuned one bad cylinder will cause engine not to idle if you have fuel injection system clean fuel injectors by filling gas tank full add a can of seafoam to fuel tank see what happens.

Remove the distributor cap, crank the engine is the distributor rotor turning? Then check the timing belt.

When im driving my truck,it starts to sputter and

I would try spark plugs and wires. If it was a fuel line you would see the leak or atleast smell it very strongly. If the problem still exists after new plugs and wires try the distributor cap.
