How do i replace water pump on 93 gmc safari

Locate the cooling fan in front of the radiator...when you remove the serpentine belt and fan assembly (including the pulley)..usually 4 bolts on the front of the fan...you can see the water pump...Sometimes you can ask your Parts store to show you the new part...(water-pump) this can help identify what needs to be removed in order to replace...Use gasket sealant on the new assembly, and I also recommend the anti-freeze that is labeled "For All Models"...for longevity and cooling...You do not have to remove the radiator or anything else...Hope this helps...:)

My 2003 gmc safari cargo van has been trying to overheat when I turn ac on what could it be?

If your gmc safari cargo van overheats when the ac is on, your radiator and cooling system may be clogged and not working at peak efficiency.

Make sure your radiator cooling fan goes on as soon as you turn the a/c on.

Rear Wheel Seal & Bearing on 1999 GMC Safari Van

Yes you do have to pull the axle and make sure you put everything back in the same place you removed it from. The ring and pinion shouldn't have to be bothered. You will have to remove the rear end cover to remove the axle. Its very easy to do. There is a pin inside the rear end that has to be removed to pull the axle. Pay attention to how you take it out and put it back the same way. It sounds as if you can do this with no problem.

I have a 1999 GMC Safari. Van will drive fine for

see when you say you step on it, and the vehicle stalls, it sounds as if it bein starved of fuel...you step on it, and therefore the demand is there, but not the supply. to prevent itself from over heating, the fuel pump shuts off...after a moment of cooling off, it fires right back up...get it checked at your mechanic...do the strainer on the bottom of the pump, and fuel filter as well...is it time for a tune up yet?

How to take off the cooling fan from 1997 gmc safari

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable for safety.
  2. Place a catch pan under the radiator, open the drain **** and drain the cooling system.
  3. Loosen the clamp, then remove the air cleaner assembly.
  4. Remove the upper fan shroud retaining bolts, then remove the upper shroud from the vehicle.
  5. Remove the fan and clutch assembly retainers using J-41240, or an equivalent fan clutch wrench.
  6. If necessary, remove the 4 bolts holding the fan blade to the clutch, then separate the fan from the clutch assembly.

Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure. Tighten the components to the following specifications:
you will need a special tool to remove #3 fan clutch.

Water pump removal

Put a prybar between 2 of the small fan bolts. Have someone hold the prybar, or rest it on the frame if it is long enough. Then turn the big nut on the fan to the left.It will be VERY tight. If that doesn't work, you can probably rent the fan removal tools from your local parts store.

Im changeing the water pump on a 199 gmc 3500 and I cat get the cooling fan off. There is a large nut attaches the fan to the water pump that turns everything but wont break free. what is the trick?

You can get the special tools to remove it or some people take a air hammer with a pointed bit and give the edge of the nut a quick hit in the direction the fan spins to break loose the nut.And to tighten it thread it back on half way then start the engine and when it spins it will tighten it up.
