Question about 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee

1 Answer

Has3 caytatic converters,i beleive 1 on the drivers side is plugged. The reason is because i replaced both O2 sensors before the converter and driver side is the one thats black.Spark pluggs are also black on the drivers side.Since there are 3 converters, can i remove that 1 and run a straight pipe in place of it,or will theO2 sensor after it effect it? The jeep cuts out really bad like it has no power going up and down hills and im getting horrible gas miledge for the last month,a half tank only gets me 60miles.

Catalytic convertors are famous for plugging up.
I have removed them and put a straight piece of pipe in place of the convertor.

Were is bank 1 sensor 1 at on a 1996 gmc yukon 5.7v8?

Bank 1 is driver's side. O2 sensor 1 is before cat converter, O2 sensor 2 is after converter. #1 should be in the downpipe from the exhaust manifold.

How many o2 sensors are on a 1999 Silverado 5.3

The 1999 5.3 V8 engine had 4 oxygen sensors. There are two catalytic converters on this engine, one on the driver side of the engine, and one on the passenger side of the engine. This is important to know, as the number of oxygen sensors is directly related to the number of catalytic converters on the vehicle. Driver side is referred to as Bank 1, passenger side is referred to as Bank 2. This is very important to know when looking up replacement oxygen sensors. There is one oxygen sensor in front of, or before the catalytic converter, usually referred to as a pre-catalyst O2 sensor. There is also one behind, or after the catalytic converter, usually referred to as a post-catalyst oxygen sensor. So, you have two oxygen sensors on Bank 1, and two oxygen sensors on Bank 2, for a grand total of 4 oxygen sensors.

P0130 P0134

P0130 is the o2 sensor circuit bank1 sensor 1. P0134 is o2 sensor circuit no activety bank1 sensor 1.In other words the o2 sensor on the drivers side before the catalytic converter is bad and needs to be replaced. You will need to reset the computer after its replaced.

I have a 2003 Mountaineer v-8 AWD with "check

Left side,Drivers side

Either in the converter inlet or just ahead if it

Bank (1) Pass Side
Bank (2) Drivers Side
Sensor (1) closest to engine
Sensor (2) monitor sensor in outlet of converter

An O2 Code does not mean it is bad or needs to be replaced.
Could be any number of other causes that set a MIL Lamp

I have an 99 Chevy Silverado Truck 5.3 liter engine, and the ODB code is PO420 can you help me pinpoint the reasons?

the code you show is for the oxygen sensors post convertor. replace both the o2 sensors after the convertor and the code will go away on its own after a couple normal condition drive cycles

Need to know location of Bank 1 Sensor 1 on engine

If I am not mistaken bank one should be your driver side. However your sensor one will be before the cat converter. So you just have to find the o2 sensor before the cat converter on the driver side. Good Luck.
