SOURCE: 1998 ford contour start up, alternator? battery?

Sounds to me like you drained your donor battery to the point where you can't jumpstart your car anymore. If you jump a car and it runs for a little bit but then dies that means your alternator is toast. If it was a bad ground, you would see sparks or a fire... Your battery only starts the car, once it is running your alternator supplies the electrical system and charges your battery back up. If you need more in depth help in replacing the alternator go to www.contour.org and get on the forums.

SOURCE: cadillac 2004 cts, wont start

The battery needs replacement. Also , the starter could have frozen up on your car. take off the starter, then remove from the car. get some jumper cables and connect from a good battery. Connect the negative cable to the housing as ground. then carefully hit the hot wire bolt of the starter with the positive cable. If the starter is OK, the starter should spin freely and kick up. Be careful when doing this. Also , be sure you mark the wiring so the starter can be replaced exactly as it came off. if it does not turn or turns slow and sluggish, the starter is your problem. replace with a good starter.

SOURCE: Car wont start

check thoroughly the battery cables..remove and clean/tighten ground especially...i'm talking about the other end of the cables especially,as well as at battery.....charge battery out of car fully and then retry ..with jump assist if necessary..then you can use lighted current probe to determine parasitic electrical draw and health of powers/grounds after getting it started to find cause

SOURCE: truck wont turn over

Have you checked to see if the starter itself was good? Could also be a loose or dirty battery cable at either ends. Ignition fuse under the hood. Hope this helps. Best wishes to you.

06 pontiac grand prix wont start no clicking when you turn the key over even jump starting the battery, has dash lights & radio & parking lights. battery tested good. put a used starter & altinator on

Used parts such as starters and altinators don't last. It might **** but it sounds like you need to buy a new starter, altinator, and battery. Or just start with buying one at a time.

My interior lights turn on everything works its just my engine wont turn over it sounds like a clicking noise

Battery is weak or bad. The clicking noise is the starter solenoid and is a result of...not enough power in the battery.

Could be a bad starter. Check for power and ground at the starter. If it has both, replace the starter. Also check your battery connections

Van wont start

I had a similiar problem recently. The car would not start and no sign of life no lights etc. I jump started it acouple of times but then even this did not work. It would jump start but right after the cables are disconnected it would stop. We checked the battery it was good. Turned out it was the alternator. It was not working properley so the system was not charging itself or even when it starts was not generating enough energy to keep it going. Changed the alternator, never had the same problem again. You can have your battery and alternator checked at an autozone shop for free.
