Question about 2006 Jeep Liberty

2 Answers

My 06 Jeep Liberty is rough idling. Any time I am at a standstill, it shakes or vibrates like something is wrong. I only have 46 thousand miles on it. What can be the issue? The dealership can't find anything wrong with it. They are saying I need a tune up and my fuel injector cleaned.

Ours is doing the same thing, but when it does this the engine light and the traction light flashes at us. Done the tune up, Jeep cannot figure any of this out. Also had the air intake, fuel injectors cleaned. A waste of our money to try and solve this problem. The one thing that DID work for about two weeks was an update for the pcm. It was short lived. I am betting that our pcm just needs to be replaced!

That is what I was gonna say. Tune ups are easy and inexpensive to do on your own. Not sure if your model has coil packs or plug wires but you need to change your plugs and find out if you have coil packs if so you need to determine which one is bad and only change that one. Then as far as cleaning your injectors, buy Sea foam and follow the instructions on the can.

And they are probably right, you might also want to put an o2 sensor in and get the cat system checked.

Sounds as if your 4x4 actuator failed to get all the way out of 4 wheel drive. Try shifting in and out of 4WD, backing up some, etc. You may have to replace the actuator, or some part of that system. Could be time for dealer diagnosis.

2005 chrysler town and country when i start the van it shaking vibration hard in park and in reverse it and in neutral and in drive it perfect.it drives good on highways no shaking

try to increase the idle-rpm..
Example - at standstil condition when you start your van, have look at rpm... say 1000 or 1200 or 1500.. whatever it may be..
Keep idle-rpm a little bit higher, if previously it was 1200rpm then set it to 1500 rpm..
If the problem is solved then..
1) clean ur airfilter
2) check spark plug condition
good or bad... if bad then replace..
3) check fuel supply line, if it is damaged or folded

I was driving and just the car start shaking .and stop did not want to restart, the engine. lite goes on

Get the car to a garage somehow and do the diagnostics test, a shaking engine means something went wrong with the fuel system at least and at worst would be the timing on it but only computer will tell you what is really wrong.

The check engine light came on and suddenly the idle is rough on 2002 jeep liberty-135k miles. Possible problems?

Hello there, Id say the EGR system has an issue. Have you been noticing decreased fuel milage prior to the rough running? Do you have a code scanner by chance? Autozone and Checker auto provide a free code scan , and that should place you in the right direction. Thank you , Quinn Texada

My jeep shakes alot too when idling- runs ok while driving--

The intake air sensor and the coolant temp sensors regulate the cold run like the mechanical chokes of earlier cars. It would be a good idea to have them checked by a competent mechanic before buying or paying for hunt ant peck solutions. Good Luck, Ned

The flashing is telling you that the engine is mis-firing, the dealer will run a test to determine the cylinder that is mis-firing, chances are it is something simple
