Transmission surge at cruise

check the rpm and road speed when this happens . The cruise control will increase to keep RPM constant but as the road speed drops the auto may be shifting down and as the rpm increase it shifts back before the rpm adjusts. You can override a cruise control in this situation by simply pressing down on the accelerator to maintain the power setting and road speed and when the situation is passed and you take your foot of the accelerator the cruise control will return the system to the set position without you needing to do anything

2005 Honda Accord racing engine

How does the engine run otherwise? Any stumbling on acceleration? Any check engine lights on?

When the engine is racing, does it stay at a steady RPM or does it flucuate up and down the RPM range?

I have a 91 Eldorado 145,000 the engine runs but sound like it about shut off, and when you give it gas it sound like it the catalytic converter is clogged. I just got the car and after reading you...

Sound like not all cylinder are contibuting and the reason it want to shut off is the RPM is to low. If the catalytic convertor is plugged as you accelerate youll hear exaust through the air cleaner and have no power. And yes a plugged catalytic will cause the engine to be rough and not to be able maintain proper RPM and thus the shut off. Inspect for a plug catalytic disconnect it look through it.and since it out start the engine is the rpm smoother , accelerate it does it seem to have more power, then you solved the problem. Also the cadillac has a Idle speed contol motor youll have to see if it nose can extend and retract this is important to maintain proper RPM

MY 2003 FOR ESCAPE WONT RUN IT SHUTS OFF WHEN YOU TAKE YOUR FOOT OFF THE GAS

The engine runs as long as you maintain pressure on accelerator? The most probable cause is a clogged fuel filter. Once the filter becomes clogged, when you release the accelerator, there is not enough fuel pressure to maintain the proper amount of fuel through filter. Have the fuel filter replaced and that should clear the problem.

Vw polo maintains engine revs when foot is off the accelerator.

You need to check the cable the runs from the gas pedal to the engine, it might be rusty and need some drops of penetrating oil at the point it meets with the engine accelerator valve.

2001 Dodge Dakota 4WD Quad Cab: engine RPM's too high/jumpy

could be a lot of things. I personally would start with your vacuum lines... check for a leak somewhere. You can do that by spraying carb cleaner (if motor tries to die, you found your leak), or it could be a sensor, likely idle air control, mas air, etc.)
