Seems to stay in lower gears too long therefore too many revs only happens intermittently..
I have had it on diagnostic check but garage says no fault registered on gearbox
Have the garage do a driveability diagnostic interfacing with the gearbox and watch for torqe converter lock up..as well as gear and speed changes tps values...

hi, what it usually mean is that you have shifted down in to a lower gear whilst the revs where to high so then your gearbox goes into safe mode to protect it from further damage the only way to reset this is to take the car to a main dealers and have a diagnostic check done.
Let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok
It sounds like who ever rebuilt it forgot to line up the gears in the gear box. You might see if they can redo it for ya, tell'em to take there time and slow down, an you should be alright.
How many miles are on the tranny? Any modifications? Tiptronics are NOT overbuilt like other parts of the car. They do fail. Usually, however, you will get a stored code or all the gear indicators on the dash come on at the same time. When that happens, start looking for a new/used tranny.
I have been having similar problems. The clutch is slipping as thats how you get the variable gears when in full auto, but this is where the problem comes from, some garages (auto gearbox specialists) are now able to fix it. Do not go to Audi as all they do is replace the gearbox (very expensive). There is no quick fix though! Sorry for the bad news!!
