Question about 2005 Volkswagen Passat

Open Question

I have a 2005 passat 1.9 tdi. The engine management light is on and the car has no power. (safe mode perhaps?) I took it to a garage, and they diagnosed a faulty air mass sensor. I since have had this replaced, however the light is still on and still no power. I therefore took the car to another garage and they diagnosed two faults: P0113 Intake air temperature sensor - High input P0238 Turbocharger boost pressure sensor high input However they were not able to suggest why these were showing.

SOURCE: Check engine light on came on in my 2005 VW Jetta

There may be a possiblity of doing damage to the turbo if you continue to drive it this way. I would recommend either taking it to the dealer or a reputable repair shop in your area to have this repaired as soon as possible, as to not risk damaging the turbo. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: passat 2006 2.0 tdi 140 engine won't start

Exhaust pressure sensor a possibility if it has a DPF (diesel particulate filter). Has it had its fuel pump recall, the oil pressure light could be just the constant cranking and running the battery low.

My 2004ntrendline passat tdi is very hard started in morning and when starts is smokey and jumpy warning lght comes up check oil pressure and when drive when started very little power until car heats up...

You need the codes pulled form the vehicles ECU with a scanner. The TDI engine does not do this when running correctly.

There are a number of reasons I can think of why this might happen, some being, Glow Plug/s failure, injection pump problem, such as temperature sensor failed, fuel system air leaks and alternator charging problems..

The alternator has a one way drive pulley that fails often causing unstable idle and belt noise..

Low power indicates the engine is in limp mode needing attention.

Find a garage with a scanner for this VW and allow them to check the vehicle.

I have a passat 2005 2l tdi it always telling me engine fault go to garage.....why that happening.

THE ONLY THING YOU CAN DO IS HAVE VECHICE SCANNED AND CHECKED OUT.WHEN YOU SEE ENGINE FAULT LIGHT MOST OF THE TIME PROBLEM COULD BE FAULTY TPS OR APP SENSOR.FAULTY POWER STEERING,FAULT COULD BE IN FUEL SYSTEM.ALTERNATOR COULD UNDER OR OVER CHARGING.HAVING VECHICLE SCANNED WILL PIN POINT PROBLEM FASTER SAVE MONEY FROM GUESSING.

Engine managment light flashes (glow plugs light)

the car is going into limp mode due to an engine management fault. have to check what the fault is with a code reader. if the milage is high 100,000+ could be a turbo fault (overboosting), as this will put the car into limp mode.

Passat 2.0 tdi se 06 engine warning light on emissions garage

If light is on at start up its usually a glow plug gone .Won't make any differance to driving. You should get a diagnostic scan done which will tell you which plug is at fault.

Are you losing power as well? if so it sounds like the camshaft is worn, this can be confirmed with a compression test
