There are resistors in the coil packs and also in the ignition control module. These resistors are not serviceable or removable.

Nissan X-Trail T32 III MR20 DD # 4 coil not firing.

Swap coil 4 to cylinder 1 and 1 to 4. If the misfire moves, you need a new coil pack.

I have a 05 Xterra. Codes 0300+0306 are there. Also, it says "open loop state. Spark plugs were changed. Where do igofr here?

P0300 is a 'random misfire', but P0306 tells you it is on cylinder 6. It is likely to be the coil pack for the on-plug coil (it is has them) so what you do is clear the codes and swap the cylinder 6 coil to to cylinder 4 and 4 to 6. Then you take the car for a run. If the code then comes as P0304, you know that coil pack was faulty and just needs swapping out for a new one.

Seems to be confusion if it has on plug coils, CDI or distributer!

2002 Nissan Altima is burning oil shakes after 3 miles max of driving, Smokes when foot on gas and reads cylinder 4 misfire. What can the problem be?

i would get vehicle on a scanner and check live data.
could be a faulty coil pack or injector on cylinder 4. Try putting the coil pack from cylinder 4 onto cylinder 1 and rescan.
If the fault moves to cylinder 1 the coil pack you moved is at fault.
You may have to replace the whole coil pack if individual units are not used on your vehicle.
The injector process is same as above but a bit more tricky due to the fuel pressure in the line...be careful!
If swapping these has no effect you wil have to carry out a compression check on all cylinders and see howthey look against cyl 4.
The shaking is the misfire, the smoke is unburnt fuel.
Dont drive it in this condition you will destroy the catalytic convertor.
I assume the vehicle has a regular service and the spark plugs are in good condition.
note...when this prob is resolved..change the oil and filter, it will be contaminated by now.

My Sentra is overheating. I changed the Thermostat before taking it to the local Autozone and have the check engine light checked out. Well I was told there after scanning the computer that it is a MISFIRE...

First step is new plugs. It's possible that you have a fouled #1 plug. If that doesn't work, check spark wires (if the car is so equipped) or if it has direct coil-on-plug ignition, where each cylinder has a coil pack on top of the plug, swap the coil packs between cylinders 1 and 2. Clear the code, run the car, and rescan the computer. If the code moves to indicate cylinder 2 misfiring, then your coil pack needs to be replaced.
