SOURCE: car problems

Sounds to be a loose or corroded wire/s at either starter motor or at battery fusible links.
Also check the earth strap (Cable) between engine and bodywork.

for the 220cdi,it is a 611.961 motor, you have to refill 6.5 liter,included the olilfilter.Whenyou have refill,and after the motor has running,you can check the oil-level in the board-computer.

I have a Merc c220 cdi 2001 and kickdown works only occasionally. The max speed I can get is 85 mph, although this is not a problem in my commute. The revs won't exceed much more than 2500 in any gear...

does it have a check engine light? You need to have it scanned and yes it could be a mass air sensor, dirty fuel filters and air filters can cause this too.

What happens is the head gaskets shrink causing the headbolts to loose torgue, and the headbolts are of one time use, whenever you do a headgasket job you will need to replace all the headbolts with new ones. and when ever you remove a cylinder head on any engine you should always chase the bolt holes with the proper tap, then blow out the holes with compressed air, this will help to insure a more accurate torque setting on the new headbolts...
