Check Relay #46 in the underhood fuse panel, pull relay from its socket and examine contact pins for corrosion, clean off corrosion. If they look OK, replace relay.

Flickering headlights

This can be caused by a bad fuse, or a fuse with corroded or poor contacts, or a faulty headlight switch, or a problem with your wiring. Start with the fuse, then try turning the headlights on and off a few times to see if that helps. Otherwise, into the shop ...

My headlights on my sunfire go off while driving

Right now, I'm thinking the head lamp switch assembly has a problem? See the wire color in the top of head lamp, that is voltage, fuse protected, hot all the time. When problem is ongoing, you could use a test lite, check for voltage at fuse circuit?
The headlamp switch assembly is located on headlamp ground circuit. There could be a wiring problem, somewhere. I can only help with testing.

I will do some research on the headlight problem. An awd system should not bind in a turn like a 4wd does on dry pavement, because the awd has a limited slip differential. And any kind of noise coming from the rearend is NOT normal. You should report the dealership employee that told you this to the factory regional representative. It borders on gross negligence.

You might want to google recalls on the internet.

I remember one such on that or the F-53 chassis.

Left of the two headlight buttons for headlights and parking, there is a vertical slider. It's labeled Twilight, meaning twilight sentinel that keeps the headlights on. Move it down and that shortens the on time to about 5 seconds. If you are sittting with the headlights on and want them to go off, push it to the bottom and it turns the lights off immediately. They will turn back on when the car is put into park.

Move the slider to the top and they should stay on for about 5 minutes. BTW if you just leave the headlight switch pushed in (if you're doing it manually) the car turns everything off in about 10 minutes--inside lights, radio, lights, cigarette lighter power (unless you moved the fuse in the underhood fuse block to make them stay on permanently).

You also may not know that if you are driving or sitting and want the headlights off but the parking lights to stay on, push the Parking LIghts button. That turns the headlights off. I didn't find that for a while because our 98 LeSabre didn't have any way to turn off the headlights while cruising through a Christmas display scene in a park where many people turn off the headlights to help the effect of the colored lights. replace the headlight relay... there may be more then one... the other issue may possibly be the daytime running light module... it's on the firewall ususally.

98 Jeep Cherokee Laredo 4X2 suddenly dies .....

It sounds like you have some **** in the gas tank that is being drawn to the pickup blocking it.
Have seen this and because it seems so random, it can drive ya nuts.

You might carry a coffee can with you and pull the line from the fuel rail when this happens stick it in the can and just have someone turn the key on for a few seconds.
Beware though, it comes out with force.

Also possible is a failed fuel pressure regulator.
Those aren't expensive and . . . well, not very good either.
