It is possible to jump the car at the starter, but you must be careful. Assuming you can access the starter from under the car, connect the negative jumper cable to a chassis or engine ground point. Briefly hold the positive cable to the big positive terminal of the starter solenoid while someone in the car opens the boot. Do not let the cable touch anything except that terminal.
