P0128 is the fault code to check 1.the coolant level 2. thermostat defective 3. ECT (engine coolant temperature) sensor defective

I also have a 2006 Fusion with the 4cyl engine. This error comes up for me after driving for awhile at high speeds on the expressway. It looks like Ford's solution is to specify a 190F thermostat as a replacement instead of the 180F one that was previously specified. The aftermarket thermostat suppliers still recommend the 180F, so you end up with the same problem after replacement. Look for Motorcraft part number RT1193 or Ford part #3M4Z8575B.
