Spark plugs, air filter, or possibly water in your fuel. When your tank is almost empty, pour in a can of Sea Foam, then fill the tank with fuel. Sea Foam will remove water and clean your fuel injection system. It can be purchased at most auto parts stores.
i'm not sure what the psi from the pump should be, but it could be that it can't keep up with the quick acceleration since you said it was slow to build pressure. I would start with the cheapest first and change the plugs and air filter see if it improves, before I spent the money on a pump. if it turns out they are the problem it never hurts to have fresh plugs and air filter at least then you know what you have in it
Check for error codes (DTCs) - that will probably tell you what the problem is. After the engine warms up, the system goes into closed loop operation and depends on a number of sensors to adjust timing and fuel flow. If any of these sensors is malfunctioning, you will have this happening.
OK number of possibilities here- Im gonna give you the most common ones-
a dirty fuel filter can cause vehicle sputter by blocking the flow of gas from the pump to the engine
a dirty air filter restricts air flow causeing the MAF (mass airflow censor) to report abnormal readings to the ecm (computer) causing the ecm to adjust fuel mix improperly resulting in stutter
bad plugs, wires, or coil - if the engine cant achieve proper spark it will hesitate.
Sounds like you need a tune up- Id check your fuel filter first and go from there, buy plugs before you buy wires, and wires before you buy coils-
It sounds like you may have picked up some small debris from the bottom of the gas tank when you ran it empty. You may need to run a fuel/injector cleaning solution through the next tank of gas to clear the debris and consider changing your fuel filter too. Sea Foam is a great fuel additive and I recomment trying it full strength. Hope this helps!
fuel filter couldn't be removed huh !!! hmmm i think there would be no better place to start with than the fuel filter then onto the air filter etc ..but replace the fuel filter for sure
sounds like a bad plug wire, take a squirt bottle while the car is running then spray the wires down they should start arcing, also when you replaced the fuel pump did you replace the fuel filter
4.2 ltr missing. 2000 truck, f150. Changed plugs, wires. Ran great for 2 weeks. Started again. Changed coils. Got worse. Changed fuel filter, did nothing. Added injector cleaner and fuel cleaner, nothing. Checked EGR, o.k. It is getting worse. Had new gas about the time it all started.
I removed the catalitc converter and never put a new one in its place.
