Not common but if you have one you need to replace it because if you don't your car will consume more fuel because it retards the engine timing. it is usually located in the middle on the front side of the block and coolant might come out when you remove it.

What kind of motor does a Pontiac Grand Prix have?


Depends on what sub-model you have. If you have an SE its a 3100 3.1L Engine. If its a GT its a 3800 3.8L Engine. If its a GTP its a 3800 3.8L but with a supercharger.

engine code 43 - electronic spart timing problem- possible knock sensor problem.. check for 5v at knock sensor wire.. if it has 5v then probably need a knock sensor.

Check the mass air flow sensor on the throttle body. It may need cleaning or replaced if the filament is broken.
