Hi!!There seems to be a common problem with some GM vehicles, you feel a thud sound somewhere between the time of releasing the gas or hitting the brake pedal and. That's due to the 'slip-yolk ' section where it connects to the transfer case, it moves axially. Most of the time, applying grease to the slip spline makes the problem go away.
If this is your case, you should try it. Good Luck!! Please, keep me posted.

Hello, welcome to Fixya!
This type of transmission shifting concern can be caused by leaking internal hydraulic pressure seals inside the transmission or problems with the fluid being worn out, transmission fluid has many special additives in it to aid in smooth shifting. My advice to you is this (based on 35 years of experience) take the transmission to a shop and have the transmission flushed of all the old fluid have type DEXRON VI ATF (automatic transmission fluid) put in, this may and many times does improve the kind of problems you are having if not eliminate them, if that doesn't help (and it should) a transmission overhaul is most likely the next step, so do the flush, it will cost about $100-$125, shop around, oil change centers do this transmission flush the cheapest.

I made my recommendation's based on what you gave me as symptoms, from what you have now added you are going to need a rebuild of the transmission, something has failed, planetary gear pack, shaft bearing hard to say until it is apart on the bench

    Sprag

A sprag is a one-way freewheel clutch used in a number of applications. It resembles a roller bearing with rollers shaped like a figure eight and cocked with a spring. When the unit rotates in one direction, the rollers stand up and bind because of oil friction, and when the unit is rotated in the opposite direction, the rollers slip or freewheel, this is what you replaced?

Sounds like you need to replace thermostat assy and add new antifreeze and as far as your oil gauge, replace the "oil pressure sending unit". That should solve your problem

1995 3.4L At start up bang noise 6 to 8 times.

It will be very difficult to address this issue by your description, If you could make a video with sound and somehow post it on your myspace or facebook and post a link, I or someone else could get a better idea of the type and location of the "bang noise"
