Try to add some lucas aditive to it, if does not solve the problem then your reverse might be about to brake, but this lucas aditive try to add with a transmission tune up at same time

When driving at certain speeds the car gets rear end sway

Hi Brent:
Several things to check, but I'll start with the most likely:
1) Tire pressure - chances are there is at least one soft tire.
2) Shock absorbers - With the car stopped. engine off, and in park, bounce it up and down at each corner. When you let go, it shoult stop bouncing almost immediately.
3) Broken strut springs - just look at them. you will see if they are broken.

What would cause temperature gauge bouncing ?

Sounds like the sending unit has an intermittent short to ground. Unhook the the wire from the sending unit, and see if the needle stops jumping around. If it quits jumping around, replace the sending unit. If it still jumps around, you have a bare spot somewhere on the wire and it is hitting ground which will cause the needle to jump. Cut out the bad part of the wire and splice in a new section. That should fix it.

Hi Cindy, need to check and see if the belt is turning tightly, they may have not done it,to check, open hood, start engine, leave in park,go to engine, find accelerator cable and rev up gas and see if belts are turning tightly,or have someone rev gas in car and someone watch. Also look around engine to see if they let something out of place, you never know these days, even at dealers.

Randomly won't start or even turn over, sometimes start fine. bouncing gauges

Yes it could be the key switch. You would need to check for power at the starter when it fails to crank. There is also a neutral safety switch in the circuit.

Hi there,

If you're willing, we can try checking your computer for trouble codes - this will help identify any electrical issues.

Note: there's a 50/50 chance this procedure will work (as this does work on the 1997 model):

- With gear in Neutral, start engine and rev the car to 2,500 rpm, then 'gradually' reduce revs down to idle speed.
- with park brake secure, slowly cycle the gear lever through each position (down to 1st, then back up, ending in Park)
- turn Airconditioning ON, then OFF - turn engine OFF - Within 5 seconds, perform the following Ignition Key sequence (without starting): ON, OFF, ON, OFF, ON (if done correctly, your ODOMETER should display a series of 4-digit codes). Please reply back once you have your codes..... Cheers,

Ford tick over problem

The battery could be slightly weak, making the computer go on the fritz, try a fresh battery!!!! The rev counters bounce often with a weak battery.

Leave feedback good or bad.
