Question about 2000 GMC Savana

1 Answer

No horsepower Hi, I have been having an issue with my van. 2000 gmc 1500 series 4.3 engine. I don't seem to have much horsepower , when you try and excellerate it seems to not be getting any gas to the motor. You are better off letting up on the gas pedal and just let the van come to you. Worst when you try and push the issue. Sometimes it backfires and just seems to have a fuel issue and is hard to start. I have had the cadalytic converter replaced, the exhaust looked at, the plugs and wires replaced, the rotor and dist. cap repl. a full fuel injection system cleaned , the fuel filter repl. I am at my witts end on this any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time. Bob

Check your fuel pressure as the fuel pump may be failing. It should have 60-66 psi at the test valve when you switch the ignition on without cranking the engine (as the fuel pump makes the humming noise)

The 4x4 actuator in the front differential may be bad. The older heat actuators were notorious for failing, but when the electric actuators came out they got much more reliable. But that doesn't mean they are infallible. Have it checked.

The battery could be your only issue here.Your engine management system will not work well under about ten volts. You battery may have low reserve. Try a new battery as it sounds like you will need one anyway.
