Why is my truck 2003 dodge dakota 4.7 v8 magnum running rough i dont know what else to do

Lets not change any more parts in the hope problem will be solved...Lets trouble shoot...Most probable cause is the Throttle Positioning Sensor (TPS)...It is located on the throttle body...Has three wire connector: Wire colors are Orange, Orange/Dark Blue, and Black/Light Blue...If you have a wee bit of experience with a volt meter here is test procedure...Leave TPS connector in place...Take two safety pins ...Push one into rear of connector into Orange/Dark Blue and other into Black/Light Blue...Set meter to read 5 volts...Clip + meter lead to Orange/ Dark Blue pin and - meter lead to Black/Light Blue...Start engine...Meter must read .08 volts at idle...Attempt to increase throttle as high as it will go...Meter must read at least 4 volts...If not TPS is the fault...Send results...saailer

1999 jeep grand cherokee fuel pump? Driving 60 mph and it died out of nowhere. No sputter,no dummy lights, no warning, just died.Acts like not getting fuel.Turns over and acts like it wants to start but...

Hello! Can you hear the fuel pump running when key is in Start? If not, lets check the one sensor that is a known failure when vehicles age...Located on the Throttle Body is the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor...It has a 3 wire connector...Orange (+5volts)...Dark Green/Orange (Signal lead)...And Black/Light Blue (Ground)...We need to eliminate this sensor first...Do you have a meter and a wee bit of experience using it? If so...Set it to read 5 volts...Using two safety pine push the point into the rear of the MAP'S in-place connector into the Dark Green/Orange and the other into the Black/Light Blue...Clip the (+) meter probe to the Dark Green/Orange safety pin and the (-) probe to the Black/Light Blue...Turn the key on...You should read somewhat less than +5 volts...Send a comment with results...See picture below of MAP sensor...Since I don't know which engine is in the vehicle 4.0L or 4.7L , I'll send both MAP"S.....Guru....Saailer

No power, backfiring thru the carborator. need to know what the problem is

Hello! lets check the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) and the Throttle Positioning Sensor (TPS) in that order...if you have a multimeter and a wee bit of experience using one both of these sensors can be tested...If not replace the MAP first and the TPS second...

The MAP has a three wire connector with wire colors Orange/White...Blue/Light Green...And Black./White...using two safety pins push one into the rear of the in-place connector into the Blue/Light Green...The other into the Black/White...connect the + probe of the meter set to read 5 volts on to the Blue/Light Green pin...the - probe to the Black/White pin...turn key to on...Meter must read at least 3 volts...If not MAP is defective...

Using the same technique lets test the TPS...Three wire connector Green/Light Green...Orange/White and Black/White...Safety pins into Green/Light Green and Blue/White...Set meter to read 5 volts...Place + probe of meter on Green/Light Green pin...And - probe on Black/White...start the engine...at idle meter must read less than 1 volt (.85)...slowly increase the idle (as best you can)...Meter should rise smoothly to 4 volts...If it skips, jumps or acts erratic the TPS is defective...See pictures below...Guru...saailer

Will not start - is not getting gas - engine is trying to turn over but won't

Hello! I need to know if the fuel pump relay is pulling...If you have a volt meter the easiest place to test is at the inertia switch...Also known as the fuel cut-off switch...If the switch needs to be reset there will be a light on the dash...The switch is located on the toe board to the right of the transmission hump, in the passenger foot well...Wire colors are...Dark Green/Yellow...Pink/Black...And Gray/Orange...Set meter to read +12 volts...Pull connector plug from switch...Place + probe of meter on the Dark green/Yellow...Place - probe to ground...With key in the on position you must read +12 volts on that wire...If not the fuel pump relay is not pulling...Send a comment and I'll take it from there...Guru..Saailer

Light in car on

that is the check engine light.
if you disconnect the battery for 1 minute,,the code will be erased and the check engine will come on if there is a fault still there.
the computer in the vehicle stores a code that triggered it. some systems will erase it if there is 50 starts with no faults at startup.
here are very common causes..
loose gas cap set evap code
air filter dirty set air flow meter code
02 sensor emissions code
running a scanner will let you know the code, but i would disconnect the battery, then see if it returns.

Generator light comes on.

i've got a '79 scottsdale 4x4 myself actually.. the best thing you can do is go buy a cheap voltage meter.. remember the wiring/connections are 30 years old.. so bad wires/connections/gauges/sensors could be all over the place..

for example, my voltage gauge would barely move out of the orange when i got it, i rewired the vitals and it still only reads 13v max, however, when i hook up a voltage meter to the hot alt wire, it reads over 14v..

remember.. old wires=resistance/heat=voltage loss.. this could easily account for a sensor triggering even with a fresh battery and alt
