This is a diesel. If you really want to "play" I recommend you google for a Service or Repair manual for your engine. Otherwise
I believe the addage "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." It will last longer.

My '94 Ranger (166K miles) leaks transmission fluid but only seems to in hot weather and stop and go traffic. I drove 200 highway miles last weekend in 80 degree weather with no fluid losses. What gives?

Your transmission is either overfilled or cooler sounds like it is plugged and not letting your fluid cool properly causing it to foam and run out the vent. I would recommend first checking your fluid with the engine running and in park to insure proper levels then if that looks good pulling the transmission lines from the radiator and blowing air through it to clear any trash that may of accumulated. You can even purchase an external cooler to help cool your fluid just be sure that when you install it to make sure you install it after the radiator or the side that your fluid returns back to the tranny and not before the radiator.

2008 ford escape transmission cooler failure

Hello! it is very unfortunate your situation. it is **** service departments staffed with incompetence. i have made a 20 year career out of the automotive industry, the last 16 with dealerships. i pride myself in customer service and frown on all of the hacks that are out there ruining a good name. Yes fors has had issues with the "combo cooler" it is a condenser for the airconditioning and cooler for the tranmsision. when repairs are performed @ the dealership, it carries a 12 month 12,000 mile warranty when they use oem parts. you stated it has been 2 coolers in 13 months? the warranry is based off of the original installation. not each addition failure should they occur. now that this is understood. your dealership has the ability to utilize their "CLP" budget to satisfy your needs. this is caled a P18. CLP stands for customer loyalty program. it is a tool that dealerships can use to help people in situations like yours. HOVEVER there are 2 questions they ask on the form to be submitted..is the customer a maintenance customer of the ford dealership and do they have an extended warranty. if the answer is no to either question....welll..you get the point. i do beleive they should assist you by maybe discounting the parts and labor in the interest of your return visits. as i tyoe this long drawn out letter, i wonder if the canadian warranties are different or for that matter if you have the complimentary powertrain warranty that comes with fords sold in USA it is a 5 year 50,000 mile warranty. if the advisor looks up coverage by using fords computer system and inputs the true part number of condenser...it would say not covered....but the failure is actually the transmision cooler..which if was seperate from the condenser, would have a different part number...that part number may come up as a covered repair...hmmmm...i will check this for you tomorrow @ work and get back to you

My ford ranger over heats in the summer but not the winter. what could be the problem

Look into the inside of the radiator. If you can see the tubes that the coolant flows through and they have deposits around the ends then it has lost it's capacity for water flow. They way to correct this is to remove the radiator and send it down to a radiator shop and ask them to have it rodded and cored. They remove the tanks and run rods through the tubes and clean them of all deposits. This greatly improves the cooling capacity again. You probably have a severely contaminated system on your vehicle.

1998 ford ranger 4.0 liter auto. runs hot while driving and cool while at idle. i have changed thermostat and fan clutch. ANY IDEAS?

You could benefit from a tow package upgrade including a tranny cooler if you don't already have one. You might want to pressure test the radiator, those things aren't immortal, and depending on where you live and how you drive, 10 years on a radiator is pretty good. seriously, pressure test the cooling system and go from there.
